Prologue
Broken Friendship
Cold brown eyes stared down at him, and he couldn't help but flinch away.
What happened to his best friend?
Why was he doing this?
Rough hands squeezed at his wrist, slamming him down to the hard, concrete ground, He was too weak and worn to struggle, and all he could do was let the tears flow from his eyes to the ground.
"Why are you doing this?!" he demanded, a tone of fright colouring his words.
His friend said nothing.
The bright red tip of the cigarette glowed.
"L-let me go!"
Ash fell on the ground quietly.
"Do what you want with him."
A flash of betrayal lingered in his eyes as he stared upon his best friend in absolute horror.
"No, don't leave me! Please! Why?"
A look of disgust was sent his way, and he only flinched into the concrete.
In the end, he didn't leave.
He wished his friend did.
A white butterfly fluttered upon the windowsill.
Clammy hands pulled at his uniform, and he had a sinking feeling in his heart about what was going to happen next.
"You can't let this happen! Please stop!"
His plea went ignored.
Cold air touched his flesh. Hands grabbed his skin.
It was disgusting.
"L-let me go!" he sobbed. He was unanswered.
A sharp pain entered his body, and he knew just then what they were going to do.
"No! No, please no, oh god no! STOP!"
Laughter echoed through the room. Those steely brown eyes of his friend just watched.
All he did was watch.
Pain burst through him, feeling them jab through his body repeatedly.
Flesh on his hands and knees peeled and bled.
Dirt gathered upon his body.
Tears dripped from his eyes, splashing upon the concrete as he begged them to stop the pain.
Another sharp gasp of pain filtered through his body. Something else was inside.
He could feel himself growing faint.
Disgust. Dirty. Violated. Filthy. Betrayed.
Foul, polluted, defiled, sullied. Forsaken.
Cold concrete eyes just watched in apathy.
A disgusting feeling washed over him as blood and a substance he didn't want to name dripped from his back.
He collapsed on the ground. Wet and dirty.
". . . why . . . ?"
Whispered.
He felt tired.
". . ."
No answer.
The cold concrete eyes settled on the white butterfly.
It couldn't escape the cigarette.
Wings fluttered on the ground. Dead to the world.
Eyelids quickly shot up, nightmares of the past creeping upon him. He sighed, and ran his hand upon the tense face, hanging his head. He refused to allow the tears to come; he had enough tears. Quickly, he allowed his head to sweep across his office, seeing if anyone caught him during his time of weakness. He didn't want to make the same mistake again.
He was weak back then.
He would never allow himself to fall back to being weak.
A flutter distracted his musing, and he couldn't help but snarl.
It only made him think of what happened, what ifs, and what could have been.
He shot his hand out, crushing the pure white butterfly in his palm.
"I hate you. You don't know how much pain this is . . . Kim Jaejoong." He slumped in his seat, the hangul saying 'Jung Yunho' glinting madly in the sterile office light. "Ten yeras . . . and I still will never forget you.
"So much pain . . . this is all your fault."
