Jaejoong couldn't remember a time when the courtyard was this dark. Maybe it was because the lamps were no longer lit, or maybe it was because dusk had already fallen. Or, it could possibly be just due to the location of the courtyard. Whatever it was, Jaejoong couldn't bring himself to care. His light feet padded across the paving with amazing speed, stumbling slightly over loose rocks on occasions. A small bead of sweat trickled down his face, telling him that he was tired of running.
"Yoochun!" he cried, trying to find the missing man. "Yoochun, where are you? We need to leave now!"
Approaching the end of the courtyard, Jaejoong quickly came to the conclusion of Yoochun not being out here. It was quite unusual, seeing as Yoochun told him earlier that he would be relaxing here . .
.
Growing worried, he ran through the grand doors, tearing across the arched stone halls. Strange things had been happening to his friends earlier on in the year. A brief thought flashed into his mind.
What if Yoochun was hurt?
No, he was probably over thinking things.
Yeah, Jaejoong's imagination just went into overdrive, caused by all the worry in him.
Yoochun was probably in the music room, practicing the piece they were going to perform. Nothing horrible or bad would happen to them. Not like his two friends that laid in the hospital, one wounded in both hands, and the other in a coma. No, Yoochun wouldn't end up like that. Jaejoong wouldn't allow another one of his friends end up in a situation like that. Calming himself to not appear flustered in thought, Jaejoong reached out for the doorknob of the music room. He waited for the sound of the piano to reach his ear, before he opened the oak door
There was no sound coming from the room at all.
"He's probably working on some last minute revisions or something like that," Jaejoong murmured, slowly opening the door of the room.
What graced his eyes was not what Jaejoong expected. No, it was the absolute last thing in his mind
A whimper escaped his throat, seeing a figure lying on the ground, lifeless brown eyes staring back at him. Vermillion liquid pooled around the body's head, creating a grotesque version of a halo. Fearing the identity of the dead person, Jaejoong inched closer to the body, holding back the urge to vomit. "Y-Yoochun . . ." Gently, he laid his hand over the eyes that once had a mischievous twinkle in them, closing his eyelids for the last time. It hurt Jaejoong to see the lively eyes dead. He had promised Yoochun that nothing bad would happen . . .
Jaejoong's legs no longer was able to carry his weight and he collapsed into the ground, white dress pants now holding forever the stain of Yoochun's blood. No longer able to stare at Yoochun, he let his eyes turn upward, demanding the God above for the answers to why this had to happen. "No . . ." he pleaded, salty tears escaping his brown orbs. "Why God? Why did Yoochun have to die? Why . . . ?" Jaejoong's eyes drifted back to his deceased friend, before flicking back up in fright. A sinister glint of silver assaulted his vision. In panic, he stood back up, ignoring his weak knees and damp pants.
Whoever had killed Yoochun was still here.
Frantically, Jaejoong swept his eyes across the room, trying to find the one that was the murderer. A large slam of the oak doors startled Jaejoong, making him glance back at the shut door. The shadowy figure just grinned, showing all their teeth, baring it like an animal at Jaejoong. The evil glint of silver jolted Jaejoong, and he began to back away. Unfortunately, his foot caught onto Yoochun's arm, causing him to fall back, hitting his head hard on the piano bench behind him. Jaejoong felt the sharp pain of the edge making contact with his skull, yet it still wasn't enough to knock him out. The figure quickly approached Jaejoong, holding the knife, bloody from the previous kill, higher and higher with each step. "I've got you now," the figure said softly, like it was an ordinary conversation. "Jaejoong-hyung, it's time to go to sleep . . ."
Jaejoong could only watch as the knife came closer and closer towards him, thirsting for the crimson blood. "Someone . . . please help me . . ."
"Jaejoong-hyung! Hyung, wake up!"
Sigh.
Yoochun watched as his hyung thrashed in his sleep, finding it odd how Jaejoong could still sleep right now. He gave off a relieved breath, seeing the eyelids fluttered open, revealing his hyung's chocolate orbs. "Jaejoong-hyung, you fell asleep again!" The pianist closed his eyes for a moment, before giving Jaejoong a hard stare. "I don't know how you still can sleep, but you shouldn't be sleeping right now!"
Jaejoong ignored Yoochun's comment of sleeping. "Yoochun-ah . . . I saw it again . . ."
Yoochun gave a pause, lifting his head towards Jaejoong, foregoing his music. "I can tell."
"It's so terrifying, Yoochun-ah . . . seeing your body like that, on the ground, bleeding . . ."
"It must be . . . Jae-hyung?"
"Yes, Yoochun-ah?"
"Don't dwell too much on it."
"Alright."
"Now, let's practice again. Someone will hear us one day . . ."
"Hopefully . . . and we'll be able to rest after that, won't we?"
"Right, we will."
A few seconds later and soft music began to play, drifting into the halls outside. It filled the stone archways with warmth for a few moments, but no one would be able to hear it . . . and a few moments later . . .
All became silent once again.
