My first post

My first official LJ post ever seemed like a good way to ring in the New Year and what a better way (ha!) than a brief history on my entry into this world? I've always watched a Buffy episode here or there, but didn't become hooked until fall of 2003. Lots of family stuff was going on (now better) and watching the show became my "reward" for the more mundane stuff in my life like laundry and showing up for work. I went on a DVD buying spree (the F/X Channel's editing drove me crazy) and by February 2004 I was caught up on everything except Angel which was promptly canceled. During the Save Angel campaign, I wandered over to one website or another and discovered that there was something called fan fiction. Who knew? And then I started reading ::cough:: Spuffy until April. I can't remember why I clicked on it, but I read Modus Vivendi by Witling (formerly Wiseacress) on All About Spike. And then I discovered LJ in May. From then on, I was hooked on slash. Hooked I tell you. It's the heroin habit I've never had, but just as secretive.

I tend to quietly lurk around here and will try to become better about commenting on stories I've read. I'm very appreciative of the excellent work I get to read for free. Heck, I spend days writing a postcard. Yes, days.

My other much more public passion is figure skating. I joined a listserv in 1993, and that was it for me. I can spend hours discussing why I prefer Michelle Kwantastic over Splasha Cohen. Please don't get me started. US Nationals are next week and I'm a little tense.
