So, last night I was channel surfing when I came along KQED & I saw Patrick Stewart & David Tennant on, so I stopped. It was Hamlet. Hamlet is one of my favorites. My favorite rendition of this play was the one with Kennth Branagh as Hamlet. He did such a good job of it.
But I got to say that this one may be my favorite yet. For me, what's a deciding factor for making Hamlet awesome is how the soliloquy's are done & all the insanity scenes, especially Hamlets.
David Tennant did a wonderful job doing those mad scenes & the infamous soliloquy of 'to be or not to be' was done beautifully.
And Patrick Stewart as both King Claudius & King Hamlet, BRAVO!! BRAVO! Lovely, Patrick Stewart is just a wonderful actor & for him to play both parts was just breath taking to watch, I gotta say. King Claudius soliloquy's were done beautifully.
What was really great about with rendition of Hamlet were all the soliloquy's, actually, the director did a wonderful job. He made each soliloquy just stand out more & they were filmed in so many different ways, each one was different than the next & I loved that about it.
There was just this scene that I loved, it was just done so beautifully, that if you watched it you would understand why I liked it so much. It's the scene where Hamlet is called to his Mother's chambers with Polonius hiding, as to watch over the Queen. It's the whole scene, from the beginning to end, when Hamlet leave his Mother's chambers with Polonius' body. It's just done so beautifully. The cover for the DVD is actually from that scene of Hamlet staring at the broken mirror, Hamlet had shot Polonius thru the mirror. After, Hamlet had killed Polonius, Hamlet speaks with his mother & sometimes is looking at the broken glass & it's just so wonderfully done that scene, you just got to watch it to know what I'm talking about.
