Excuse Me, My Oven is on Fire

If I'm away from the keyboard suddenly, it's because my oven has caught fire. :) I got some dark-brown Fimo clay and I'm making a wand out of a bamboo knitting needle. I wrapped the clay around the bottom of the knitting needle in a spiral (making sure to cover up the "US 10" mark) and burnished the clay with gold burnishing powder. I'm hoping that ( Read more... )

I think it looks good! But the powder didn't actually incorporate onto the Fimo when it hardened, so when I hold the wand, my hand turns gold. HtB has some clear polyurethane - I think I'll try painting it with that.

Left to my own devices, I would go with the sporty athletic look, considering I am usually at least kind of athletic. But it's not easy to find my size. It is very depressing to read a catalogue and find that they think "extra large" is a 10-12.

Please, please, please can DtB adopt me??? I love my own dad, but he's never given me a gift certificate with no dollar amount on it. On second thought, if something happens to the DH I'm calling up DtB tout suit. ;)

Did you need any other submissions for HMS LIbris this month? With all that's on your plate, I dodn't know if you were worrying about it right now. Just let me know the next time something is ude. :)

*sporfle* I'll give you DtB's phone number. :D

Oh, man, I forgot the date! I have to do the HP HMS Libris this weekend! (I have switched over to "HP Countdown Time," and not paid tons of attention to how that correlates to the actual calendar.)

I'll post and ask for HP reflections. If you have anything else you'd like to contribute (besides your awesome HP piece) you're welcome - otherwise the next regular issue will be in August.

My favorite was a woman I went to grad school with who was totally great at shopping and could find you stuff that would look terrific on you at a price you could afford. She had a gift, for sure. :)

It's a really interesting book. On her blog she talks about how she wanted the writing style to be Native American and not just the story. It's also set in the town where she went to college, more or less, and boy does it sound like a typical small Midwestern town!
