Okay, first of all, NO ONE IGNORED this guy. They were gawking. I have thoughts on why.

in this day and age, everyone is too afraid to get SUED. If a man is dying in the street and you kneel down besides him and try to help him, you might make his injuries worse... in which case, the family would sue you. Let's say he has a broken neck and you try to move him or check his pulse... but when you move him, it kills him because of the broken neck... then guess what? You're going to get sued. What's the first thing a cop says to a crowd, gathered around an injured person? "GET BACK! GIVE HIM SOME ROOM!" But when we do that without being told, it's suddenly an uncaring tragedy. Yes, people rubbernecking then driving off is pretty low but the people on the street shouldn't get involved because they're afraid of causing a lawsuit - EVERYONE is sue-crazy these days.

Also, people DID call 911; the police just confirmed that in another news reel.

For the person who said the people did not help out of fear of being sued...impossible. You are protected by the good samaratan act.
Now to the person who said the bystanders did right by not moving him, you are partically correct, never move and injured trauma pt. however that does not mean dont go check if he is breathing or to comfort the man by being by his side talking to him until EMS gets there.

Lastly for the person IN THE ARTICLE who was fearful and 'uncomfortable' because the man was bleeding and possibly unconsious THATS A COP OUT...and it is a shame there are no laws against inhumanity.

....all right this person makes a few good points and a few dumb ones. I didn't know about the Good Samaratan act. First I've heard of it. Second of all, they're right to agree NOT to move the person. However, you can't have a law against inhumanity. Let's say you were afraid to go to jail for NOT helping a fellow citizen... so you go up to this bloody mess, knowing there's still a blue and tan car racing around the streets... your knees are weak, your stomach is churning... you go out there... and faint. Does that make you inhumane? Did you break the law now? Fuck all that noise - You have the right to be a coward. You have the right to sit down on the curb, burry your face in your palms and feel uncomfortable because you have no idea what to do or how to react. You have the right to be afraid of the situation. THat's fairly normal. We can't all be heroic, that's what sets us apart from HEROES.

Ask anyone, and they'll say "I have no idea how I would have reacted in that situation."

Anyhow, I'm done bitching about the news for today :)

I got transfered full time to the Laurel store, Office Depot #252.

It's 52 miles, round trip. a;lsdkfh;aewjalksdjfm
