This last weekend, the
festival went fabulously, if expectedly rainy. There's nothing like a
really professionally done monitor mix to make you realize how fantastic a singer you aren't. Oy.
At the show, we hooked up with our usual crew, the festival's familiar faces, and a guy I've never seen before wearing a
Slapshot t-shirt. No shit, a Slapshot shirt at a blues festival. I talked to the guy later, and he self-deprecatingly confessed he likes all kind of music. Amen, brother.

Benefit for Jackie Redmond at
Inn On The Blues
7 Ocean Avenue
York Beach, Maine
207.351.3221
http://www.innontheblues.com This Sunday the Matthew Stubbs Band, along with an all-star cast including Rockin' Jake, Sweet Willie D, Bruce Marshall, Chris Fitz, Racky Thomas, Evan Goodrow, Brian Templeton, Cheryl Arena and Mike Welch will be performing from noon 'til close as a fund raiser benefit for former Inn On The Blues owner Jackie Redmond. Jackie owned and operated this northern home of rhythm and blues until the fall of 2003, when she sold it to the current owners, Joe Lipton and Chris Crane, who have kept the R&B alive and well on the shores of York Beach. Jackie opened a new club in Pompano Beach, Florida called Bittersweet Blues, but became ill soon thereafter and had to retire from the club business. As with many folks in this line of business, she has had no health insurance and needless to say, the bills kept coming. Please show your support if you're in or around the York Beach area this Sunday for a great friend of the musicians, patrons, and club scene.
