I go away for less than a day and a community explodes. Oh, fandom, why you make me cry. :(

Been watching Sherlock, finally. Still haven't seen the last episode so spoil me and I will hunt you down and make you suffer, but hopefully watching it tomorrow then I can safely search for fic. I may have found a new fandom. This may or may not be good.

Discovered a Tapas bar in town. Now eat there often enough that when we showed up tonight we were shown to our "usual table" and the waiter recited our drinks order without our saying a word. I can't decide if this is good or not.

Went to see the Iron Lady. Still somewhat confused about what they were aiming for. It was a well shot film, Meryl Streep was amazing; she got Thatcher's mannerisms and speech down perfectly, but there was no emotional attachment to the film whatsoever. It clearly wasn't trying to make people like her, but it wasn't trying to demonise her either. I spent most of the film not caring. I didn't learn anything (but I suspect people even a few years younger than me may do so), some of the film was actual news footage, but it wasn't anything I hadn't seen before. I remember the Thatcher years vaguely and I remember the after effects quite well; I vaguely remember the Poll Tax riots (mostly Dad turning the TV off whenever the new came on so I wouldn't see it) and Dad still calls Council Tax community charge to this day. I went into the film worried that it would be an attempt to garner favour for her, but for a film that covered forty years of a very contentious political career, nothing actually happened. Bev said at the end it reminded her of a made-for-tv biopic. It just left me a general meh feeling to be honest.

Have completely rearranged every room in my house and had a big sort out. I now (or will when I've finished) have roughly half the clothes (which is still more than I need) a living room I can move in and when I'm finished everything I own should actually have a place instead of being dumped on a shelf for me to forget about.

Sorting out has left with me with a crap load of paper I can't recycle though. My Council doesn't take shredded paper (or cardboard now but that's a whole different problem. A problem that's currently taking up half my bedroom in fact but I haven't become annoyed enough to just bin the stuff just yet.) and I'm not willing to recycle them whole. I know the likelihood of someone pawing through my recycling and stealing my identity is next to nil, but I'm not willing to take the risk. I'm thinking of investing in one of these to use up the bits I can't get rid of. The amount of paper I have lying around (I found a folder full of bank statements from when I was fourteen yesterday. God knows how they've managed to escape previous sort outs) is ridiculous and will probably last many a bonfire, but I know a couple of people with logs burners that I'll distribute them around to get rid of them.

I seem to have developed a habit for using far too many brackets. Oops.

I've switched my sleeping patterns around without meaning to. I'm sleeping all day, wide awake all night and as a consequence doing nothing at all. I'm resorting to the dreaded all nighter followed by a busy day to reset myself. :/ Thankfully I have the entirety of Merlin season 4 to watch. I recorded it and never got around to watching it. Merlin and knitting for the night, a short nap, tidying my house, sorting someone else's house, visiting my sister then dinner with my father, all accompanied by a young child should mean I sleep tomorrow.

merlin, fandom makes me cry, sleep (or lack thereof), grammar-o-where-art-thou
