That Was The End of FitzSimons Grundy.

As inspired by The Transmutation Effect, a blog I read regularly.

Directions: As usual, hit random play on iTunes and see what songs come up.
This one is the soundtrack for your life.

Opening Credits:
"Experimental Film" (by TMBG) covered by SongsToWearPantsTo.com
Great, upbeat cover. Better than the original, IMHO.
At least we're starting off okay. And appropriate too, eh?

Waking Up:
"Happy Birthday" by Weird Al Yankovic.
Ha. Again, apropos to start off my life-soundtrack.
I play this song every birthday as soon as I wake up. This and "It's Not My Birthday" by TMBG. I'm a cynical bastard.

First Day At School:
"Come On Come On" by Smash Mouth
"...and tell me why you're starin'...it must be what I'm wearin'"
Yeah, I used to get really excited about the first day of school and simultaneously hugely concerned with first impressions.

Falling In Love:
"Just Push Play" by Aerosmith
Man, I'm liking these songs...especially since it's the songs we're using, not just the titles.

Fight Song:
"Do You Wanna Dance?" by the Ramones
Don't mess with me; I'm the Boogie Man.

Breaking Up:
"The Geeks Get The Girls" by American Hi-Fi
...Oh, cool. So I only think it's a break-up, but it turns out she's waiting by the car saying, "What took you so long?"
PS: FYI, I am a geek.

Prom:
...um. "Track 15"
...which turns out to be a mashup of 1) a cover of Norwegian Wood and 2) the Mission Impossible theme song. Appropriately, the theme for Graham Street Salon Prom this year is spies (Prom '007).

Life:
"What You Waiting For?" by Gwen Stefani
...Good question. Hmm. I do live to "get me some brand-new fans," don't I?

Mental Breakdown:
"Groove is in the Heart" by Deee-Lite
Quite psychadelic with Bootsy Collins and Q-Tip featuring prominently. Yeah, that sounds like what it'll sound like when I snap. I can't wait until my left eye twitches and the soundtrack goes, "He's not vicious or malicious, Just de-lovely and delicious"

Driving:
"Don't Phunk With My Heart" by The Black Eyed Peas
Hugging the curves of a winding mountain road like they're her humps, her humps, her lovely lady lumps. This actually makes great driving music.
...Shut up. Don't judge me.

Flashback:
"You Get What You Give" by the New Radicals
Shiver up my spine. This is definitely a great emotion-grabbing flashback song.
iTunes, don't fail me now; you're really giving me good random songs. Keep it up.

Getting Back Together:
"This is How A Heart Breaks" by Rob Thomas
...I jinxed it, didn't I? Damnation.
Actually, this song accurately portrays my feelings on 'getting back together': Don't. It didn't work the first time, why's this time going to be different? I realize some might think me a bit hypocritical, given my current situation. My response to those Some: ...Shut up. Don't judge me.

Wedding:
"You're Beautiful" by James Blunt...wait no.
"You're Beautiful Karaoke Version" (by James Blunt)
Yes, I will have karaoke at my wedding.
If I have my way, my vows will be a song parody.
And considering what kind of woman I'd marry, it'd likely be a duet. I'd fight for "Ain't No Mountain High Enough." Imagine that for a moment, won't you?

Birth of Child:
"Pacific Coast Party" by Smash Mouth
Oh hells yeah! First kid, I'm gonna be beside myself with the need to PARTY!

Final Battle:
"Stoned" by Smash Mouth
Very laid back verses. I imagine it starts out with my slo-mo walking and looking badass (but then, I always imagine things involving my slo-mo walking and looking badass). However, by the end, it feels very hand-to-hand and Matrix-dodgy. Which is the only way I'd have my Final Battle be.
...Also, it's apropos, since --if anybody kills me-- it'll be Andy.

Death Scene:
"I Can Only Imagine" by Mercy Me
Whoa. Okay, iTunes. You're trying to make my audience cry. Stop that. Stop...sniff...th-that... This is one of those religious songs that gets me right there, regardless of its religiousness. ...Shut up. Don't judge me.
Anyway, the death scene would be at the very beginning of the song, and then the crescendoing rest of the song would be a hazy sunny flashback to all the promise that my too-short life had, until the last two lines when it comes back to my last breath...

Funeral Song:
"The Ballroom Blitz" by Sweet
HAHAHA! This is exactly what I want my funeral to be like. I want an Irish Wake: everybody drinking and singing and dancing to huge songs like this. And if Rachel could choreograph an entire crowd dance starring all my friends, I'd die happy...or 'have died happy,' I guess.

End Credits:
"Shout Shout" by Ernie Maresca
Oh, a peppy oldie. I really was born far too late. I'd have done so much better in either the 1950s or else being born in the 1850s, the former for music tastes and the latter for appreciation of insufferable wit.

And then one more song to wrap up (since Sketch threw one in himself): "Face Like Billy Joel" by Da Vinci's Notebook. Hilarious.

Well, my life soundtrack came out pretty awesome, actually. And only one repeated artist; that's amazing.
