The masons were/are/will be crazy. I have never in my life seen the phrase ".22 caliber" used so often in conjunction with 'hilarious' pranks. In fact, I have never seen so much hazing in one place since I took that class on chiaroscuro (heyo!). Reading the actual descriptions of the text is unbelievable enough, I suppose, but as we all know, I can never leave well enough alone. Thus, a new explanation for the Fencing Contest (only the description has been changed; the picture and all components have been left untouched).
