River Song Timeline

Oct 02, 2011 22:03

Well someone else will probably do this but I figured it was nice idea and I would like to as well. Why? Because I haven't done anything like this in a while and I wanted to do a chronological order of Final Fantasy VII but then it all got very confusing. Not that this isn't but it's more amusing to me for now. So it all began... with a big bang.

Melody is Made
River Song is conceived on the TARIDS mid flight on the night of her parents, Amy Pond and Rory Williams, wedding. She is therefore a Child of the TARDIS and has the ability to regenerate. Some have speculated that prolonged exposure to the time vortex is how Time Lords evolved.

Revealed in episode 6.07 - A Good Man Goes to War

The only water in the forest is the River
River Song is born. Named Melody Pond by her mother Amy Pond. Her father is Rory Williams - The Last Centurion. She is kidnapped by Madame Kovarian who is an agent of the Religious Order The Silence

Revealed in episode 6.07 - A Good Man Goes to War

Escape from the Suit
She is sent to a closed down Orphanage in Florida where she is kept alive by an Astronaut suit. With all her strength she escapes the suit after meeting her mother who incidentally nearly shot her (1969). This is due to Amy's knowledge of an Impossible Astronaut that kills The Doctor in 2011. Melody travels to New York City. She is dying by the time she gets there and thus regenerates in an alley.

Revealed in episode 6.02 - Day Of the Moon

Penny in the air...
Melody then travels to Leadworth England in the future. Where she grows up with her parents, who are also children, as their best friend Mels. Mels is a rebellious young lady who awaits the arrival of the Doctor.

Revealed in episode 6.08 - Lets Kill Hitler

And the penny drops.
Mels meets the Doctor and travels with him to Nazi occupied Germany where she is shot by Hitler. There Mels regenerates into her most familiar form. River Song. Unfortunately she has no knowledge of this persona and thus acts upon the conditions she was influenced with by The Silence. To kill the Doctor.

Revealed in episode 6.08 - Lets Kill Hitler

Maybe I need a Doctor.
Melody almost succeeds in her objective. She poisons him with poison from Judas Tree. But realises her identity and how important he is to her after the TARDIS helps her save her parents from the Teselecta. This is where River learns the drive the TARDIS. She then learns the identity of River Song. "Is he worth it?" she asks, to which her mother declares he is. River gives The Doctor her remaining generations and saves his life.

River Song's Diary
As she recovers he gives her the most important item she retains. Her diary. Inspired by him and wishing to look for him she studies archaeology.

Mission Possible
On the day she graduates Madame Kovarian finds River. Her objectives are finally realised as River becomes The Impossible Astronaut and shoots The Doctor.

Revealed in episode 6.12 - Closing Time and 6.01 - The Impossible Astronaut

Tick tock goes the clock
In an alternate reality River does not kill the Doctor but because it's a fixed point time stops and all of history stagnates and mixes together. (Churchill becomes the Holy Roman Emperor of London 2011.) The time and date remains the 22nd April 2011 at 5.02pm. The moment that the Doctor was meant to die.

Revealed in episode 6.13 - The Wedding of River Song

I don't do weddings...
In this reality River and The Doctor get married. The Doctor reveals he does not die and that the man she shot in Utah is actually a Teselecta, a robotic duplicate who are time travelling renegades who apply law and order upon criminals of history.

Revealed in episode 6.13 - The Wedding of River Song

Stevie Wonder sang in 1814?
River Song is imprisoned for killing the Doctor. Although she regularly escapes when in the mood for adventure or when the Doctor whisks her away for dates.

Revealed in episode 5.12 - The Pandorica Opens - This is the first occasion we see River in prison

But that means!
River reveals to the Doctor and her parents her true identity at Demon's Run. She is Amy and Rory's daughter, although omitting the fact that the Doctor and she are married but implying that they are lovers. Mere minutes before this revelation her younger self has been kidnapped by Kovarian (see where this gets confusing?).

Revealed in episode 6.07 - A Good Man Goes to War

Time Keeps on Slipping
River is invited to witness The Doctor's death in Utah. Which is actually a past version of herself killing a future Teselecta version of the Doctor. The reason for the invitation is to remind her that she is forgiven by the Doctor for her actions.

Revealed in episode 6.01 - The Impossible Astronaut

Incredibly strong and running away. I like her.
River helps with the investigation into the missing child and the event but never alludes to the fact that both incidents are actually her. She does however heavily insinuate a relationship with the Doctor and shares with him their last kiss in her time line.

Revealed in episode 6.02 - Day of the Moon

You wouldn't answer your phone
River is contacted by Winston Churhill in prison who wishes to contact The Doctor about an obscure painting by Van Gogh which shows the TARDIS exploding. River leads the Doctor to 102AD by graffitiying the oldest cliff in the universe. In this era she is posing as Cleopatra in order to gain favour with the Roman Army.

Revealed in episode 5.12 - The Pandorica Opens

And what time do you call this?
River gets trapped in the TARDIS when it explodes destroying the universe. The TARDIS' emergency protocols put River in a time loop to save her from the effects of the explosion. At the time, the Doctor had her Vortex Manipulator, which he had used to jump from 102AD to 1996 and then into the exploding TARDIS to save River.

Revealed in episode 5.13 - The Big Bang

Are you married River?
The Doctor saves the Universe by flying the Pandorica (an ancient trap for The Doctor) into the TARDIS explosion creating a new reality. In this new reality River helps Amy remember the Doctor with her diary thus pulling him back into existence.

Revealed in episode 5.13 - The Big Bang

Ooh Doctor! You sonic-ed her!
River contacts the Doctor through the black box of an air ship named the Byzantium. In this adventure Amy speculates that River is the Doctor's wife, although the Doctor remains suspicious and distant from River since he does not know her that well at this point.

Revealed in episode 5.04 - The Time of Angels

You. Me. Handcuffs. Must it always end this way?
Octavian (a member of the armed forces who are using River for this operation) reveals that River is imprisoned for killing a 'good man'. When asked about who it was River can only reply 'the best man I've ever known". River finds penance from prison for her help in the operation at the Byzantium. She becomes a Professor in Archaeology.

Revealed in episode 5.05 - Flesh and Stone

Father dear, I think mummy might need another drink
After this River travels back to the future to explain to her parents that the Doctor is alive and that River killed a replica of him. Amy also realises that she is now the Doctor's mother-in-law. Much to her chagrin.

Revealed in episode 6.13 - The Wedding of River Song

Hello Sweetie.
She finds the Tenth incarnation of the Doctor in "The Library". She gains his trust by telling him his name and revealing she has a sonic screwdriver. She carries her diary of their adventures and concludes that this is their first meeting on his time line.

Revealed in episode 4.08 - Silence in the Library

That impossible man. He just can't give in.
River realises this is their last meeting and thus sacrifices herself to save the people saved in the Library database before the Doctor can attempt to. The Doctor is able to save her conciousness to the virtual world The Library has created using the sonic screwdriver River has from his future. And just this once, everyone lives.
