Wow, it dropped a few degrees in hell today...

So I never thought I'd say this, but I actually agree with something that Bush is wanting to propose. It is the privatization of social security. What he wants to do is basically let people do their own investments whether it be in the stock market or through a personal savings account. Funny enough, I was talking about doing this a while back, before GWB even came out and said anything. I hate the fact that money is being taken out of my paycheck so that it goes towards other people who never thought of even saving up for retirement, so I was telling some of my collegues at AU that I'm not going to depend on the government to feed me when I'm older, especially when there's a chance they may fail. At this rate, it seems to be that way. So yeah, I absolutely want to save up money for when I am older and cash in when the time comes. The biggest critque is that what if the stock market crashes again. Well first of all, the money doesn't necessarily have to go towards stocks and bonds. Also, people say what if banks shut down like what happened in the depression. Well, to a certain limit, the FDIC insures people's money. The way to prevent going over that limit is keep opening several bank accounts. Also, it would be better to have several accounts because interest rates are competitive, hence, people actually getting more money in the end anyway. ;) Maybe I'm dreaming, but at least I have an idea of what I want to do. Which totally segues into what I am going to talk about next...
I talk about saving up and doing the "grown up thing" and blah blah blah... but I am absolutely serious about it. I'm 22 years old already, after GWB's second term, I'll be 26... DUDE... I was just 18 at the start of the last presidency! Time is fucking flying by! Well to cut through the bullshit, other than planning for investments and large savings accounts for the future, I want to buy a house. Yes, I want to have a house. To be honest with you, I want to settle on the west coast. If not Seattle, maybe Oregon or California. Obviously, it's not going to be for A WHILE because home ownership is expensive, but it's something that aiming for in the future. I'm not the kind of person to dick around anyway. So I know for sure that I will someday move out west, have a HOUSE and have someone to share all this with. ;) Yeah, I actually think about stuff that matters, unlike some people... hah.
