Oh man, the NOVA/DC skyline looks like my MAC collection right now, hahah. It's like a swirl of lavender, pink, baby blue and some streaks of gold. Yeah, as you can read I'm kinda bored and chillin in my apartment right now. These days all I've been doing is working and catching up on sleep. Awesome.
Anyway, this past week I started talking to a friend that I haven't heard from in about a year. We seriously picked up where we left off, and if anything we are better friends now than we were before. Seriously, catching up with people is such a good feeling. We've talked almost everyday since last Sunday. We also keep each other company at work through AIM. Bless his heart for making work go by faster than it already does. :) Anyway, last Sunday obviously was Independence Day (happy belated birthday Amerrrrica), when him and I were talking we realized we were BOTH in Cleveland for a post-Hellfest jam in 2003. I was going to the show and he was playing the show. I was like, "No shit? That was a YEAR ago, time sure does fly." Both of us have definitely "changed" since then. He's not in one the bands that played anymore and OBVIOUSLY I don't live in Cleveland anymore. There's more to the story obviously, but I really don't care to post specifics and what not. Bottomline, I'm glad that him and I are in contact again. Which segues into another thing...
Yesterday, I went to a house party at the "666 House" and some bands played... 1033/Never Enough/Farewell Hope/Names For Graves/Plan of Attack. My friend Joey sings for NFG (HAHAHAH I just realized they have the same initials as New Found Glory) and it was AMAZING to see him and hang out. I haven't seen him in nearly a year and we did have a falling out sometime last fall because of conflicting views. Seriously, he's one of the MAIN reasons that I am here in DC and actually DOING something with my political views. He basically called me out on being "apathetic" and not doing something about the problems that I see. I was basically discontent, yet complacent and comfortable at the same time. It's a weird kinda oxymoron-ish paradox, but yeah I was totally "stuck in that." That's why the night him and I had the argument, I went online and researched on moving to DC. Even though he's more into actual grassroots activism, I am more into straight up government action and working for PAC's and interest groups. There's all kinds of political involvement, so I was on a quest to find my "niche." So here I am about 8 months later pursuing a career in politics. What really kills me that when Joey declared a political science major at Cleveland State his counselor ACTUALLY LAUGHED AT him. Not that it matters now anyway because he's going to be a teacher, but god damn, I'd seriously lose my shit if someone laughed at me for being a political science major. He told me all this yesterday and he said that I am SO MUCH better off here. I will see him soon again hopefully. Plus, I think Danny DC might book NFG down here sometime. Two other members of the band are also friends of mine and it was nice to see them as well. Their guitarist I've known for YEARS (he was also in xCommittedx and In the Red) and it was nice to talk to him about life in general.
Other highlights of the house party:
- Cat and I making fun of the total sausage party
- Fun get together of DC-ites
- Roman candles, fireworks, firecrackers and a feeble attempt to shoot stuff out of an anus... as well as someone's twigs and berries just flapping in the breeze during the stunt
- Laughing hysterically at the sight above ^^^
- Danny being the king of the kegger and throwing fireworks/firecrackers into other people's yards
- Meeting new people
Now I'm watching the new Law & Order "installment." It's like real life court cases and this week's episode has the ASSHOLE PIECE OF SHIT kids that did the bumfights thing. When I first heard of it a while back I thought it was a joke or some "urban myth" thing. I can't believe these kids would do something like that. I swear to God, if I was the prosecutor I'd put these kids in jail for like LIFE without parole. However, before going to jail, they should be beat up and humiliated like the people they put all this through. I have a very draconian way of criminal justice.
Side note: I am wearing Hipnotique, Sugarwhite, Kiddie Pool (by Urban Decay) and Flashmode Lustreglass. :D
p.s. I <3... no I ADORE... Tomas from across the pond. He knows why.
