After 100 years of service, Shinigami are allowed to apply to view the cinematic record of their lives before they died and were brought on as reapers. Most reapers are approved. Grell never has been.
[Grell takes William's arm. It's nice to walk by his side. He stays oddly quiet until they manifest themselves into Grell's apartment.
They open the door, and there's instantly a heavy smell of incense and perfume. The furniture, carpets, and curtains are all red. They're all beautiful too, high quality and well made. Individually, all the furnishings and decorations are well chosen. However, none of them match. The shades of red, all mixed, clash together. And, the designs are a bizarre mix of styles and eras. It's all good, but none of it works together.
Grell throws himself into a red velvet overstuffed armchair, and looks up at William. He doesn't say anything, his expression is curious, questioning, and a little helpless...]
[Grell leaves his chair and flops into the loveseat. He lets his head and shoulders fall against William's shoulder, but he makes no move to force himself. He tips his head back, looking up at William.]
She was very dedicated and... tolerant of my work habits. She never questioned me on my late nights spent at the office, and always welcome me with a smile when I finally came home.
I should have paid her more attention. I suppose I haven't changed much since becoming a reaper.
