so yes, yesterday:
gerald swung by to hear my bach between shifts. i told him not to, since i hadn't worked on it in a few days. but he did, and unfortunately i didnt notice him come up, so he was standing outside my room just as i was doing the huge arpeggio section at the climax. then he came in and said it sounded really good and asked to hear more. i played the second half for him. he said it sounded good, just needed to be cleaned up and that all the notes were there and that it was more in tune than most people play bach (!!!) which is awesome. i was so excited. then he gave me his bow to use, until he can play again. which is also exciting, because it has a much meatier sound than my bow and is easier to play. so i'll be using that for the audition.
later that night, i saw one of the freshman jazz bassists and introduced myself. he was like "oh yeah, i know who you are, they say you're really really good...and you are, i always hear you practicing, you sound good." and i was like "uhh thanks?" (thinking: wtf??? who's talking about me?)
a strange and good day.
