One - U2
Is it getting better?
Or do you feel the same?
Will it make it easier on you now?
You got someone to blame
You say
One love
One life
When it's one need
In the night
One love
We get to share it
Leaves you baby if you
Don't care for it
Did I disappoint you?
Or leave a bad taste in your mouth?
You act like you never had love
And you want me to go without
Well it's
Too late
Tonight
To drag the past out into the light
We're one, but we're not the same
We get to
carry each other
carry each other
One
Have you come here for forgiveness?
Have you come to raise the dead?
Have you come here to play Jesus?
To the lepers in your head
Did I ask too much?
More than a lot.
You gave me nothing,
Now it's all I've got
We're one
But we're not the same
Well we
Hurt each other
Then we do it again
You say
Love is a temple
Love is the higher law
Love is a temple
Love is the higher law
You ask me to enter
But then You make me crawl
And I can't be holding on
To what You got
When all You've got is hurt
One love
One blood
One life
You got to do what you should
One life
With each other
Sisters
Brothers
One life
But we're not the same
We get to
Carry each other
Carry each other
One...
One...
She realised she had started missing him even before It ended. She missed the innocence, she missed the security - the sturdy wall that seemed to support her then, she missed the kaleidoscopic joys she had felt spending time with him, and most of all she missed the lack of all venomous emotions that somehow crawled up slowly and insidiously between them over time... exploding into fitful bursts time and time again, cutting wounds time and time again, each cut getting painfully unbearably deeper, and the more important things became simply neglected and overlooked. She couldn't remember how it all started, how evolutions mysteriously crept up, changing the state of affairs... only upon looking back did she realise how starkly different things were. How wrong, mistaken and badly deluded she was, thinking love was all that was needed to hold things together. If only. Love simply wasn't enough. Or perhaps there just wasn't enough of it to go around. She continues loving him, remembering the words one of her friends had once said - all of them would always be a part of you and you would always love them all. She chooses to remember It as a Good One, one she wouldn't regret. She watches the sun shed its last rays over the sea - the waters reflecting the golden rays and hiding its depths, as with so many things - holds her breath and wishes it could stay eternally like that, before it slowly but steadily sank into the other side.
