A recent spate of unnecessary antagonistic comments from my second sis raised some negativity in me - and I realise that once again, the people I'm supposed to be closest to (i.e. family) are in fact the people who are the most hurtful, disparaging and furthest from whom I would consider my inner circle of trust and support.
I'm glad and thankful that through this all, Christian has stood up for me in what he sees as unreasonable and tyrannical behaviour. It's not the first time she has shown such rudeness and tyranny in front of others (at times even directed at my friends, who hardly even know her). In fact, her "in-your-face" self-aggrandizement has once caused a rift & misunderstanding between one of my best friends and me, but thankfully our friendship is strong enough to withstand such distasteful experiences.
In such situations like now, I'm glad that she's now less a part of my life & relationships, and once again here's a reminder to invest my time and energies in only those who matter.
Interestingly, a recent conversation with a fellow Singaporean over Chinese New Year revealed that many Singaporeans who live overseas are the ones who have been estranged from their own families. Not surprising actually, ha.
