Calliope-- she's everywhere this year

See, admire my Mardi Gras 'Altar Tree' on Facebook.

Oh, lovely tree! Notice especially the pic of the Muses beads, blinking shoe and blinking lava lamp-- I am fond of the Muses. You're surprised?

As you'll read in the caption, it's a special year for being Calliope. HERE I can say that that name, my nickname/scene name for about 18 years, is well on its way to making my year strange- I hope, gloriously strange.

The Krewe of Muses dedicated, as their honorary Muse...
...
... Calliope!

I was pleased. I had a frantic hour of 'I must get down there!,' til I remembered that oddly, they don't use the Muse herself on any floats or throws... and so I'd get as much out of pics online as I would being there. No one would even be chanting 'Calliope.' Which is difficult to chant, admittedly.

There are 16 pages of pics on the Muses Krewe page. I am content, I have seen it all now. Besides Friday was a fun Opening 'Dracula' Night(which I hope will bear much fruit. Hope.)

Calliope, the Muse of Epic Poetry. Actually, the NOLA Krewe gals think it's eloquence in oratory. Not so different *exactly,* but some. I prefer it aimed at news-history storytelling minstrels and the like.
