When they were younger, Marina Cooper and Lizzie Spaulding did everything together. When they were ten years old, Marina had given Lizzie a necklace and Lizzie had declared it the best gift ever.
They were a little older than that when they managed to get Gus arrested for statutory rape. Though Lizzie was duped into it, she had nonetheless done what Marina had asked without question.
They were both eighteen when the stole their first car together and a tad older than that when they got fake IDs.
They were 23 when they last slept with each other, the night before Lizzie’s wedding to Bill, to which Marina was not invited.
“This is the last time.” Lizzie had whispered.
“We said that when I married Mallet.” Marina had replied.
“We’re trouble together, we always have been.”
“And yet, we fit so well.”
