older woman - revised

Apr 10, 2008 21:39

i used to marvel at the beauty of the world
every leaf on the tree
every cloud that sailed past was a treasure to me
i used to lie in the shade of your affection
every blink of your eye
every breath to escape your lips i called mine

i'm an older woman now
the hours pass slow and memories rise fast
the spring in my step has given way to an aching soul and a breaking back
now i'm an older woman

i no longer revel in the colors of the fall
all the brown shriveled leaves
dropping from the trees another ending, thats all
i no longer bask in the sunshine of your memory
a storm cloud rolled in
and left me bitterly longing for the end
