last night at the kick-ass Fireside Christmas party:

*Chelsea and Kate bump into each other*
Me: "Kate, have you been drinking water?"
Kate: "Yep." *holds up drink*
Me: "Kate, that's a beer. Can I get a water over here?"
*Troy laughs*

Man, that party was fun.
Kate and I were the belles of the ball.
I had two very amorous gentlemen hangers-on.
Eh. Whatev. Neither as cute as Drew, by a long shot.
But, nice to be noticed, and gotten drinks, and danced with. Nice to be a girl.
Somehow, I ended up driving Troy's car and giving both of them and their friend rides home. It's hard to resist when someone's calling you "The awesomest girl ever...This girl is such...such awesome...(drunken slur)" and other someone is singing along to the Cure songs you played on the jukebox.
I'll never see either of them (or anyone else I met, probably) again, but it was a wonderful night.
Our first dressy fête in the big city: a grand success.

Hung out with Crystal and Andrew on Saturday night and got shit-faced. Not as bad as opening night (NEVER again, and I mean it!), but just enough to get really giggly and relaxed. I hadn't seen them in a month, what with Christmas and the fact that we don't work together any more. We saw your best friend's band play, and he's really good. He always plays some Better Than Ezra for us. It was very nice.

I also got a nearly pay-free ASM gig with a very good company called The Hypocrites, working on their upcoming production of Maria Irene Fornes's "Mud." I'm really, really excited to be working with them, the show's going to be incredibly intense, and the people seem totally cool. I start Saturday. I'll be done April 8th (Easter). If you are Robert or Matt, you'll remember this as the company that did the "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" that we saw. This play has the same director, same space...and that's were the similarities end. It's going to be nothing at all like "Cat," which was a big departure from their usual style. I'll write more about the production another time.

I also went to my first Chicago Dramatists Network Playwrights event tonight. I'm sort of overwhelmed by that organization and all it can do for me, should I ever take the time to really suss out everything that's open to me now that I've paid my dues and become a member. The speaker was good.

Where is that king cake Kate's sister was supposed to mail us...?

Temp agency interview and testing tomorrow. Wish me luck that my subbing days are now behind me. Yesterday I was an elementary school PE teacher. Blech.

If you see my boyfriend, tell him I miss him.
Don't tell him that I am now an aspiring vegan.
