Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
I've been wanting to post for a while now about the DH but I've never actually got around to doing so until now. Even now, though, I don't really feel motivated enough to write a proper detailed account of my opinion on it. I'm sure this is just me being lazy though so hopefully I will type a proper one up soon.
To summarise my opinion:
- OMG I cannot believe Dobby died.
- 'Here lies Dobby. A free elf.' - SO touching. I was sobbing at this point.
- Omg, Hedwig! :(((((
- I really thought Hagrid was dead when he fell off the motorbike, now that hurt. Even though Harry's cries of 'accio Hagrid' were slightly amusing.
- Draco Malfoy. What a wanker! Rescued by Harry twice and still tries to help the Death Eaters! To his credit he did pretend (possibly, I must add. Although I am hoping it was deliberate) not to know for sure whether the Harry with the swollen face the DE captured was actually Harry. Ditto for Ron and Hermione.
- Zomg, sugaredquills, I totally thought of you and Deleted Scenes at around the part where Hermione was being tortured! No pressure though, I'm just too lost in fandom.
- Dobby in general. What a hero.
- The chapter when Harry finds out he has to die absolutely killed be. So beautifully depressing and well written. All hail JKR.
- Harry didn't die.. When it comes down to it, in stories, good always has to triumph over evil. It was realistic (well, as realistic as HP can be) in that so many people died along the way.
- TONKS AND LUPIN MAY YOU RIP
- Ted Tonks JR - I was so worried Harry would die and he would have no godfather :((((
- Dumbledore - always fighting for the greater good. Made many mistakes but I totally forgive him.
- Also, I love his brother! And I can't believe I've just forgotten his name.. Help!
- Neville is god. I love him. Killing the snake like that! See, he did do his part in Voldemort's destruction in the end, even though the prophecy wasn't about him.
- Xenophilius Lovegood. Fucking awesome name.
- Ron. I nearly gave up hope on you when you left. But you came back :) and it was all fine and dandy then.
- 'The ghost of his last laugh still etched upon his face.' That line. Enough said.
- I did love how all the Malfoy parents were thinking of during the Battle of Hogwarts was rescuing Draco.
- Also Narcissa saving Harry! Yay! There is some good hidden deep, deep down.
- 'NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH!' - The most necessary use of the word 'bitch' since its invention. Molly was fucking awesome at that bit. Bellatrix - crazy bitch.
- Harry and Ginny's kiss near the beginning! Such a lovely description. How sweet.
- I love how Harry's first use of the Cruciatus curse was defending McGonagall (sp?). Some tosser Death Eater spat in her face so Harry defender her. I loved how he did it without even thinking. ILY HARRY POTTER.
- 'The Seven Potters' - awesome idea, much? I love how Harry was like 'erm, oi!' when people were getting naked dressed as him.
- Mad Eye :(((( such a soldier. So brave. Legend. And Dung, you complete coward prat.
- Snape. Well, I didn't ever trust you but I must say I'm eating my words now. ILY SNAPE. Thank you for all you did for Harry. It was awful to see you die so horribly.
- I loved Lupin in this book. Even though he was a prick and wanting to leave Tonks, he went back and they died together.
- Hermione, I also loved you.
- Second best line ever, 'The ministry has fallen. They are coming.' So cleverly simplistic. I was terrified when I read it.
- Kingsley Shacklebolt - What a legend.
- The first chapter. The end line. 'Dinner, Nagini.' Awesome writing. Really gave me the chills. Also really let us all see who we were dealing with, if we hadn't before..
- The tension created in the first chapter.
- Lucius Malfoy and his peacocks. Ahahaha.
- The death of Voldermort. Megalomaniac got what he deserved.
And the epilogue???
Well, I liked it. I think I'm one of very few people.
- I'm happy Draco didn't die although WTF kind of a name is SCORPIUS? Poor, poor child. Still, coupled with a touching but also shitty name like 'Albus Severus,' this new ship does provide us with AS/S or rather, ass.
- Draco's receeding hairline. So young? When Lucius always had long flowing hair? Nonono.
- James and Lily and Albus Severus. Sweet names. Nice tributes.
- Despite my Harry/Dracoism, that would never happen so I'm happy Harry and Ginny got married.
- Ron telling his daughter to beat Scorpius Malfoy at everything really made me chuckle :)
- Yay! Hermione/Ron! ♥
- I love James Potter JR. Esp with his not wanting to be in Slytherin and Harry giving him a talk about how brave Snape was and he was in Slytherin. Touching. Very touching.
- I LOVED the end line. 'All was well.' That's how it should be. It left me not wanting more and being pleased for all of the characters. I loved it so screw you, haterz.
SO BASICALLY this summary went on much longer than I was planning on writing but instead of reading fic I am now satisfied to go to bed. If you shared any opinions, let me know!
