3 of swords, 2 of pents, knight of wands

This is a reading which starts off harsh and ends well. Funnily it's also partly about boundaries and good use of energy.

The 3 of swords, sorrow, shows the pain and fear of being in a difficult situation and seeing no way out. Someone once said that the useful thing about pain is that it tells you where something is broken and needs to be fixed. I am not saying you have contributed to the situation which has led to this heartbreak, but there may be underlying attitudes and a bad habitual response which is no longer working positively for you in terms of helping you deal with this kind of situation. If you know what this is then it would be good to address it: it's hurting you much more than it's hurting anyone else. Feel the pain but don't let it swamp you.

2 of pents, change. Juggling options, trying to maintain balance - your work/life balance has been out of kilter and this needs to be addressed. Your career matters, but it needs to be in balance with the rest of your life. If you find that you take your work home a lot (mentally/emotionally if not literally) then now is the time to start looking at ways of cordoning off your home life so it isn't affected so much by what's going on at work. It is difficult when you have a vocation, but find ways to leave it behind so you get some proper time off and rest.

Knight of wands, the warrior card, does not give up, a trustworthy person if a little too blunt for his own good. Look for this man as a mentor either for your generic management/people skills or for your subject area skills - outside your current work place. This person is inspiring and creative and will pull you wholesale out of a rut or pit of bad energy.

Nothing in here suggests that you will be pushed out of your job (of course that might be bad news!) but it sounds like you would benefit from being around other bright people and getting the intellectual stimulation you need, rather than being bogged down in admin all the time. It sounds like your perspective has narrowed to this one horrible bit of your life and if you can't move for whatever reason, then your horizons and perspective need to be expanded in other ways.

Thankyou very much for this, very apposite to my situation (I'm sure my question was quite apparent!) I just need to meet/identify my Knight of Wands now. Donation made to the Red Cross, thankyou for trading your skills on their behalf.

I went back to work yesterday and some of the issues which have been affecting me have been addressed, others will have to wait and see. I'm feeling both emotionally and physically drained and worn out despite only having done two half days, but I am hoping that there is a way forward in this situation.

You are right that I need to stop bringing work home and to be honest, I think this means that I need to stop caring about it so much which is going to be hard as I do have a vocation and to detach myself emotionally from that vocation will mean changing the person I am.

All very thought provoking, many thanks....
