Ah, Summer at Freaking Last

May 14, 2007 10:54

So, I had my last two finals on Thursday and my mom came to Denton to help me take all of my crap back. I had no idea how much could fit in HALF of that tiny dorm room. Oh well.

I took my government final first at 8 am... 50 multiple choice... took me 10 minutes. I got a 96.

Then I went and packed up all the rest of my stuff and my mom showed up and helped me then. I also studied more for my history final. We went to go eat, and I was almost late for my final since the traffic sucked (everybody and their mom was on 288).Then I had my last final at 1:30... this one took me longer, since they always want very through answers on the short answer/ID and essay questions. It was 20 multiple choice, 4 short answer/ID and one essay. I think I did pretty well, I think I knew what I was talking about the whole time, lol. It took me about an hour and 15 minutes.

Then I went back to my room and I cleaned before checkout, which I should have scheduled for an earlier time. Oh well. So we left around 5 and got home at about 9. Traffic sucked in Fort Worth, as always. Oh! The only thing in the bed of my truck was my fridge, and I have this poster on it from when we went to the sneak preview of Jackass 2, it's called "Pin the Penis on Steve-O". It's like pin the tail on the donkey, but instead of a tail, it's a red penis. And anyway, it was turned so that every time I looked in my rearview mirror... I saw the penis. It was quite amusing. For me, at least.

That night, after I got back, mom was tired, so she went to bed and Corey and I went to Wal-Mart to find something to eat (it was about 10 by the time I showered and got ready and he got there). Then we took it to his house and actually used the nasty kitchen there (his housemates' fault, not his) (they NEVER clean, but ALWAYS cook) and talked to his roomies a bit. Then we watched... something... all the stuff we watch runs together. He took me home around 12:30 or something.

Then Friday I went bathing suit shopping (new summer= new suit). I found one at Marshall's, it's cute. On my way there, I drove by Corey (running errands on one of his few days off). And he looked mighty sexy in his newly washed truck with his window down, sunglasses on (which he looks like a BA in anyway), and sipping on a smoothie. He saw me too. I'm surprised one of us didn't crash. He called me and was like, "I just saw THE hottest girl". It was cute. He came over around 12 and we left for the lake (mom would be out later that evening because she had to work and had tennis). We stopped in Bertrum at a BBQ place (blasphemy!!!!!), but it was pretty dirn good (blasphemy again!!!!). Then when we got to the lake, my g-ma wasn't there (g-pa is on a cruise) (g-ma couldn't go because of her back), so we hung out inside for a bit and relaxed on the couch. Then we got into our suits and tried to get the jet ski to work. Someone had left it on. Battery= so dead. So we got the charger out and hooked it up. Didn't work. When my grandma got there, we went inside and sat and talked with her and figured out what to do for dinner and he and I went to the store. Then Corey and I went in the paddle boat because nothing else worked, but this was man powered. When we came back, Corey grilled chicken breasts and w had dinner. Then we went outside and swung and my mom got there. She ate, and then we played Spades. And who kicked ass? Corey and Leah did! We beat 'em twice! Losing in the beginning, we came back in the end to dominate! It's because we make a great team, that's why. :) By the time that was done, it was 11:30 and we were all pooped, so we went to bed (Corey and I had to sleep separately :().

I don't know why, but I woke up at 6:30 Saturday morning, when my g-ma did, and just talked with her for a couple of hours, sitting on the deck outside. It was really nice. I didn't want to waste my day at the lake. Then when my mom got up, we made breakfast. I made the bacon! And it was so CRISPY and AMAZING. I went and woke Corey up and gave him the option of getting up or not, and he did. Then we got the big boat out and went on it. I kneeboarded for the first time in ages, and then Corey tubed. Then we tubed together, and THAT was interesting. I have pictures. They'll be on Facebook and Myspace soon, I'm sure. I just have to upload them (mom's computer, mine doesn't have a wireless card yet). Then we had an amazing lunch. T-bone steak, grilled compliments of Corey, boiled shrimp from mom, AMAZING FANTASTIC mashed potatoes from grandma, shrimp scampi from me, and a salad. Topped off with iced tea and a lake view. Then we had ice cold watermelon (Corey's idea, again... he mentioned it even before I was home that he wanted an ice cold watermelon and a day at the lake). I have a cute picture on my phone of him and a "watermelon" smile. We left at 3:30 so that we (Corey and I) could get home in time to get ready for the KEVIN FOWLER concert.

Corey picked me up for that around 6 or so, and we drove out to the Nutty Brown Cafe. He wasn't too happy since he was out $60 because he was trying to be nice and pay for people's tickets in advance to save them money, but everyone (3 people) backed out on us AFTER the fact. Oh well. We went inside and waited 45 freaking minutes for a table and had terrible service. But we got out just in time to see Kevin get on stage, and miss all the opening guys. He was great, much better than I expected. I don't know many of his songs, and it would have bee better if I did, but I still had fun. Corey didn't look like he did though. His allergies were really bothering him ever since the lake (Nutty Brown is an outside venue), so his head was pounding, and I'm sure the smoke and loud music didn't help. But we stuck around for nearly the whole thing. He dropped me off around 12.

Mother's day I went to church with mom and bought her chocolate-covered strawberries and we ate at Red Lobster (no wait). It was packed, but everyone waiting was a group of 3+, so there was no wait for the two of us. Then we went shopping and my mom got a new swim suit and some nice shirts to wear to work, and I got a cute white, flow-y halter top to wear with my cowboy boots, lol. Then mom went to tennis, and I started moving stuff back into my room... made substantial progress. Corey called me when he got back from his parents', and I went over there. We didn't do anything exciting. Just watched TV. I left around 12:30, because if I didn't, I would have fallen asleep.

And now today is the first day of Frogs for me, so we'll see how this goes. I don't know times or places... good combo. Oh well, I'm going to e-mail Coach Mark then shower and go to... Pok-e-Jo's.

Signed,
Leah "That Was the Most Redneck Day of My Life" Johnston
