Song of the Day: Ben Kweller - Falling

Thought of the Day: "I...am...God (animated attempt to make fire and brimstone sound effects)!! REVENGE REVENGE REVENGE love love REVENGE REVENGE love REVENGE loveEPIPHANY!!!" - Royale Famille Du Caniveaux

Ha, I want to be reborn into the Royal Family. The Country Fair was this weekend, and I went because I am apparently a dirty hippie. But Aaron, Dad, and Patrick went too, so at least I'm not alone in my condition. And frankly, I'm horrified at the amount of raspberry iced tea I just drank.
Anyways, I saw Heather and Katie, which was awesome. Heather has like 3 tatoos now, and Katie is just...my role model and the raddest person in the world, so there isn't much more you can say about that. But I also saw Levi, and most of the crowd of Aaron's friends. I saw Rachel briefly. Rachel who is so cool that I wish I was getting hardcore jaw surgery so me and her could like...sit around and talk about underwear through our wired shut mouths.
So yeah, day one of the fair. Just me and Aaron. It was his first time so I was excited to take him. Aaron suffered extreme shell shock within first 10 minutes. Lessened as time went on. Ate food. Watched people. Saw Reese's juggling show. Much fighting with fairy wings. It ended up a fairly laid back day. We even went back relatively early.
Day two of Fair: Dad and I went, and Patrick came with us. It was also his first time at the fair. He was dressed all straight laced. It was funny. So me and Dad dragged him around for a bit. Met up with mom and Sharon and stuff. Ate stuff. That's about it.
Then yesterday (day three of the fair): Aaron and I went with Patrick. Saw Royal Family and Reese again. Nice man sitting next to Aaron had this really cute little kitten that he let me hold during the shows. I want a kitten now!! We spent a good amount of time at the drum tower as well. Something about dancing barefoot in a crowd of people...there's this bizarre cliche freedom when you're in the middle of it, and everything is drums and feet stamping in the dust. It's primal and energizing. My favorite part is when the drum speed up and peope sort of cheer/yell chant. For those if you who don't frequent the fair, you may be interested to know that the drum tower has no leader. It consists of anybody who shows up with a drum/percussion instrument. People come and play for 10 minutes or 4 hours and other people come and dance. It's the coolest thing you will ever do.
So that was my fair. It always makes me sad when I hear people talk about the fair like it's one huge orgy fueled by excessive drug use. I thought about it a lot during Royal Family when the guy from Get Out the Vote talked about the real world needing us. And it's kind of true. If for no other than people need to know that the world can be like the Country Fair. So if you're one of those people who has never been to thr fair because of all the bad things you heard about it, and all the things you think you know about it, I challenge you to go to the fair and see what it's really like.
I like Ben Kweller because he says things like "Nothing isn't nothing, nothing's something that's important to me." I can't get that line out of my head. Think about what it really means. I Love the 90's tonight!! Ha, I saw this shirt at the fair that said "You said potato, I say fuck you" and I almost peed. "You're not the god of me." Royal Family. Word.
