I have been reading books, I swear! Slower than I'd really like (man, in my hey dey, I'd flit through a book every few DAYS, now it's every few WEEKS - if I'm lucky), but I have been reading. AND working on the list of To Reads. So there's that. :)
Wildwater Walking Club by Claire Cook- Easy, light, enjoyable non-romantic chick-lit. Pretty much like most books by this author and thoroughly enjoyed though not likely to be remembered in the long-term.
1st in the Dresden File series by Jim Butcher - I am so happy Dia (and I believe others!) recced this series to me so long ago. I love it! My library has about 8 of the books in stock and you can be sure I will read them all. Especially since the loveliness of this series is that it's kind of... serial. Like watching an L&O. Or something. There's not much of the personal unrelated to the White Council and so I think (think, not know) that this particular series is one I could possibly stick around for more of than just three chapters. Because I won't get annoyed by lack of personal forward momentum on the part of Harry Dresden. His momentum is simply that he is *still alive* and that's enough for me.
House Lights by Leah Hager- Hard to categorize. Easy(ish) but not light. A family at a turning point; a daughter seeing flaws in the perfect picture that has been painted for her. I didn't particularly care for the heroine for the entire first third of the book. And yet... I found the story compelling nonetheless and continued on. This is one collected from my big book list and so it is one more I can cross off as 'finished!'.
At Home by Bill Bryson - Eh. It was interesting enough, but there wasn't enough of the quirkiness and fun that I expect from Bill. Possibly because he wasn't a part of the story, and I usually like the books in which he is inserted (however obliquely) into the narrative.
