I have somehow managed to persuade my departmental head to send me on a training course, the dates for which happen to be Thursday and Friday this week.
This is both very jammy, and at the same time a phenomenal display of own-foot-shooting. Being out of the office for two whole days (five whole days when you tag on the long weekend, for which I am off) at this time of year will just be bliss. Fitting all the work I have to complete before Christmas in to my three remaining days in the office will take a Herculean effort.
But never mind all that boring stuff. The important question in hand is: how casual can I get away with my clothes being for this training course? I definitely don't have to wear a suit like I do in the office, but can I get away with jeans? Cords? It's a Corportation-wide initiative (if you'll excuse the officialese) so there could potentially be people there whose daily work clothes are jeans, and more likely overalls and protective clothing. Do I have to stay groomed to office standards?
Pressing issues I know, but a career-driven girl like myself just has to be prepared to ask and answer the tough questions.
