I was very ready for this to be a Friday, and for the work day to end. Everything has been very busy at work, with deadlines coming up and a whole bunch of people calling in to ask questions. I don't usually get calls. But considering I am working less hours and getting just as much done, I can't be doing too badly.
Anyway, when I got out of work today I went by McDonald's for my naughty meal of the week. A coworker had been eating one of their hot fudge sundaes on Thursday and I just had to have one. So I ordered some burgers for Nathan and myself, and then ordered one hot fudge sundae. (Nathan was not yet out of work and I didn't imagine he'd want a melted sundae). Apparently that was too complicated for the guys at the pick up window. After asking me what I ordered, the guy proceeded to give me two hot fudge sundaes in a carrier. It'd been a long week, so I took them. Besides, they made me park to the side to wait for my burgers. When I looked at the receipt I saw that they hadn't charged me for the extra sundae, and they brought the rest of my order just as I'd asked.
I ate my sundae a bit on the way home and it was utterly fabulous, and I figured I could put the other sundae in the freezer.
On my way up to my apartment, I saw something attached to my front door by a rubber band. It was from my school and had obviously come in the mail. Lo and behold, it was the bachelor's degree I earned at the beginning of September of last year, and it said cum laude on it. Now I knew that meant something good, but since I am the first person in my immediate family to earn an AA, let alone a BA, I didn't know exactly what it meant.
So I called the Tall Man, otherwise known as Vengeant, and asked him what it meant like a dumbass. I was willing to play the dumbass at that point, since I still hadn't finished my sublime sundae. He told me the good news and I looked it up on Cal State L.A.'s web site to find out exactly what it means.
It means I'm in the top five percent of the school. Not bad, considering I hadn't known about it.
