One minute life is fine, the next i come back to reality and realize the situation that i am in. but i never seem to be "there". i always feel like i am inbetween layers of the last minute and the minute ahead. like in the story "The Langoliers" by Stephen King, i feel like i am chasing time ( Read more... )

Thank you for posting that picture of the House cast... I love that, that's awesome.

Television is not bad for you--it's the people who let t.v. dictate their lives that are in trouble. At it's worst, television is a riot-inciter. But at it's best...

At it's best, television is theatre. It's the storyteller beside the campfire. Why do we become so enmeshed in House or Gil Grissom? The same reason we identify with Hamlet or Willy Loman, because they are reflections of us, and watching them teaches us something we can't even name. Or maybe it's because we appreciate the craft; when a television show presents with a truly excellent cast, well-written dialogue, fascinating plots, we get drawn in despite ourselves and admire them for being able to do that to us.

Television has replaced theatre, though only in that it's the place that the majority of people see stories played out. Did you ever hear someone telling their kid not to sit too close to the stage? :)
