food report

Burgers at the Druid Pub in ... oh, that one square ... Union? Anyway, they're good. And the beer I had was also a nice burger complement.

Indian food cooking on Sunday for three hours -- nan and rice; dal with cinnamon, cardamom, etc.; curry potato stuffed red peppers; butter chicken. Very very tasty, and fun for cooking once in awhile, but definitely not worth the effort on a regular basis when I can trot downtown and get the same for much less work.

Easy Mexican breakfast for dinner -- caramelized some onions, added to some refried black beans, smeared mixture into the bottom of an 8x8 square pan. Layered four or five corn tortillas on top, ripped into smallish pieces. Fried three eggs just til the bottoms were set, layered those over tortillas, sprinkled with queso fresco, broiled for five minutes til eggs were set. Top with salsa (or don't, if you're me and don't like salsa). Serve with soyrizo/rice/pea mixture that I eat all the time. Yum.

I also made a German pancake this weekend. I love those things so much. And I'm starting to create my Chicago food list in my head. My mother says it will include a burger at Kuma's Corner, and I still need to try Hot Doug's for their duck fat fries.
