food cravings

For probably the past two months, I've been eating pad thai about once a week. Everything about pad thai makes me happy. I love the salty crunch of the peanuts, the warm, syrupy sauce, the slight sweetness of the eggs. My online research makes me think I probably eat about 1000 calories of pad thai in a dinner sitting, and a bit less at lunch. This is probably too extreme of a meal to be eating once a week, unless I'm super-careful about the rest of my meals. I think I should go back to food journalling -- winter hibernation eating patterns are getting a little too intense to not be tracking things to keep my eating at least somewhat in check.

[edit - pad thai is fewer calories than this per serving, but i don't think i ever eat only a single serving. as dinners go, it has the potential to be healthier than i tend to consume it]

This week has been good - lots of grains, veggies, grapefruit (we had about 30 pounds of grapefruit arrive at our house from various sources, so we are frantically trying to eat it). Today is peanut butter and apple sandwich, chips and odwalla, and dinner will be lentils/rice/carmelized onions with a carrot/date salad. I do have lots of new cookbooks that need exploring, so hopefully that will steer me back in the right direction.
