Friday, Nadine came to visit, taking refuge from her parents', where she had spent three weeks of vacation. Most of my friends at this point seem to feel too old to spend more than a few days at parents' houses before going vaguely insane. We went out for Indian food and lambic, took down the tree, and then just sat around for the rest of the evening, chatting. My friend Tim also stopped by and disconnected the gas line and stove. It's good to know someone handy enough to not blow up the house playing with the gas line.

The new stove arrived bright and early on Saturday -- so early that I hadn't gotten out of bed, which meant I couldn't remind Tim to take my broiling and roasting pans out of the storage drawer in the old stove, which means I'll be shopping for new pans in the near future. The stove is shiny and pretty. Nadine and I shopped and enjoyed the 60 degree weather in Lexington for most of the day while Tim had to go to school. I couldn't pass up a skein of Andes yarn, in purples and greens. I could probably dye something similar, but the instant gratification won out. I'm starting to miss my dye days, though, so maybe I'll haul out the supplies some weekend soon. I also finally finished my first pair of gloves. Weaving in all of the ends almost killed me, but I managed. Tim and Tim connected the new stove.

Sunday was errand running, lounging in the morning, attending Nadine's graduation party in Pawtucket in the afternoon/evening, watching Beauty and the Geek, putting away laundry, and other mundane stuff. Next weekend, we have zero plans, which is also great. Sometimes a lazy weekend is needed.

I finally used the stove this morning for the first time, and my quesadilla came out just fine. I'm hoping to bake something this evening, or maybe tomorrow. It's a novelty to have a digital temperature gauge. All of the numbers on the old stove's dial had worn off, so we never knew at what temp we were baking.
