Club, etc.

My second outing to Lexington club Scrabble was lovely. I like that you can just play random people. At Bowie, you get paired up in your ability level, which is fine since it makes for closer games, but you don't learn that much, or teach that much. You get to do a little more of both when you play people at all levels. Last night, I played someone rated in the 1700s, and two in the 800s, and, predictably, I went 2-1. The game that I lost, I drew in a less-than-splendid manner, but I also failed to open up the board when I started losing, and thus didn't give myself enough chances to come back, even if I had found a bingo or two. In my third game, I found ANEUrIN, which made me happy, and TREEING, and hooked ROUGH to EME (creating HEME), putting the H on a DLS and the R on the TWS, for 52. I broke 400 in my two winning games, and didn't even hit 300 in the losing game, so my average will be a little lower than usual, but this is making me want to study again, which is a good sign.
