FCN Report
What a con! I can't believe it almost doubled in size from last year. This con is definitely in the running for favorite. This or FWA> I had such a blast and suited so much.
Wednesday, Roxas came up around 5 or 6pm and helped me finish up some last minute suit work. Unfortunately, due to multiple factors and not wanting to rush, I didn't get a chance to finish Shiny's head, which is almost done now. I'm glad I waited, Shiro pointed out a few things that could take it from a good head to an excellent head.
I got up fairly early to finish off the tails I had to make and pack. Shiro came home from work, washed his car, packed his stuff, and soon we were loaded and off for that long drive to the con. Fifteen minutes later, we were there. ;) I got us checked in and hunted down Blazger, Frostcat, Dodger, and Mari. After getting everyone situated in our room and then getting registered (where we bumped into Cyan, Bash, Mojo, Zero, Eldritch, and Eenyu...who gave me my cute badges!), Blaze, Frost, Shiro and I suited up to go romp about the con. Once downstairs, I instantly ran into Deoge and Howiepup. I chatted with them for a bit, recognizing Deoge as a friend of RoboDobie, who I wanted to hang out with. We decided to go outside as the hotel lobby was insanely hot, and who do I bump into but Dobie and his mate Arinmal. We talked for quite a bit and I even deheaded for a moment to show him how to find human-Kiska later.
Upon heading back to the room to desuit so we could run to Meijer for supplies (and so I could get Pandez his suit back and Avada his tail), we found that we were right across the hall from Cyan Leopard and next to Shiny, Rannoch, and Suzi. We also ran into Bash, Rhaps, and Artkit. We took Bash with us in suit to run to Meijer and Rhaps tagged along as well. Hehehe the looks on people's faces at seeing Bash in her suit (minus the head) was great. $80 worth of booze and nomnoms later, we headed back to the hotel to pregame for the dance that night.
I had a few drinks and tossed on my partial after helping Shiro back into his suit. I grabbed my squeaky beer bottle and we went romping around checking out the layout of everything and getting pictures taken. Since it was Thursday and not a whole ton of people were there yet, the dance was fairly dead, so we headed back to the lobby, where Shiro ran across Mojo and Zero and I ran across Dobie and his gang of Canadians. Sat in the bar and talked with them for quite awhile, then followed them outside to talk more. After awhile, Shiro and I started getting tired, so we called it a night, but not before heading down for a short bit to Pandez's room for a party.
Woke up around 10 AM when Blaze and Frost were moving to their permanent room. Shiro hadn't got the best night's sleep, but I was awake and raring to go, so I let him sleep while Roxas and I went down to check out things and Dodger and Mari got ready to line up for Artists Alley. After a bit, Roxas decided to go with Pandez and his friends to the mall. Since I figured Shiro would still be sleeping, I ran off to see who else I could find, and ended up finding Nuka Nuki, his brother Lan, and their friend Poonya. Chit chatted with them for a bit then came back inside the hotel and found Shiro up and about. We walked around for a bit, checking out Artists Alley and Dealers Den, and also talking to Koinu. We suited up again and romped about for awhile. Ran across a bunch of people I forgot were going to be at the con: Brutus and Wolffine, Swift and Silaria, Roxicat, Colin Foxtail, and many more. Also while running about in suit, some girl randomly came up to us and asked us to stop for a second. We started to pose for a picture as she dug around in her bag, but turns out she had badges for us. Surprise!
We went to desuit for a bit and get nomnoms in the con suite. Delicious! I had a slice of pizza and some ravioli. Let me tell you, that is the most stocked sponsor suite ever. No free beer for me that night since I couldn't find my ID before going in, but oh well. We ran into LuckyEvilDog on our way back up to our room, and he and I swapped contact info for later suit swapping shenanigans. Back in our room, we hung out with Cyan for a bit, and by this time, Deimos was there as well. We suited up again to romp some more before we had the Flight of the Conchords concert with Pandez and his friends. We suited around until 9:30, playing Rock Band and hanging out with Helmet and Wifey.
We realized how late it was getting so we quickly desuited and met up with Pandez. I sadly don't remember his friends' names, but they were not furries but cool as hell. Actually, the one girl had already decided on a fursona for herself! They were a blast to hang out with and the concert was amazing. We got back to the hotel around two, and we were hungry, so Shiro took off to grab some McD's while Deimos and I cracked open the booze. Ran across Nuka and dragged him up to our room for drinks and suit swapping.
We ate and then suited up, the four of us heading off to what was left of the dance. It was already over though, so instead we mingled downstairs. Shiro was outside talking cars with some folks, so Nuka and I ran around continuing to confuse folks. (I was in his partial, he was in mine) We got some pics outside, then met up with Furball, so Shiro and I followed him up to his room. Nuka had disappeared, so I ran back down to get him, meanwhile running into Ifus and Xander hanging out in the lobby doing art with a few of her friends. Grabbed Nuka and went to Furball's room to finish out the night talking and having a couple more drinks. Poor Nuka passed out, so we had to wake him up and carry him back to his room, leaving him with my tail and sleeves and me with his tail. By now it was something like 5 AM, we got back to the room, had a quick shower, and passed out ourselves.
Woke up again around 10:30 and started getting ready for the day. Went down to Artist Alley to check on badges with Deimos and commission one from Texsa. Deimos vanished on me, so I headed back to the room, but before I got back found Shiro, Mojo, Zero, and Cyan, who were all getting ready for breakfast at Big Boy. Seems other furs had the same idea, as everyone I was looking for ended up there (except Ifus lol). Soon after we got situated there, Pandez, Tora, and Roxas showed up with a couple friends. (Pandez's Canadian friends being off to the airport as of 5 AM). Then Deimos called looking for us and we had him join in as well. Not long after that, Dobie, Arinmal, and I think Wgg showed up and sat behind us. Next came in Furball's crew, with Keesh, Mighty, Midwest Cougar, Evan Li, and a couple others. Then finally, Lucky came in for carry out. Since Shiro drove Mojo, Cyan, and Zero there, I decided to make the ride back a bit less cramped and stayed behind with Dobie and crew plus Deimos. Chatted with them for a bit, then headed back to start suiting up.
I was going to wear Kiska for the parade, but Lucky called right then and said I could wear his Lucky suit and he had someone to wear Kiska. She was about my size and build, so she fooled most everyone :) Missed the photoshoot, but oh well. We seem to miss them at every con somehow. It was hot as hell in the parade room, so we hurried to desuit afterward and walk around for a bit. Shiro was looking to relax a bit in the room, but I wanted to see if my badge was done yet and talk to Ifus for a bit. While doing this, I ran across a girl named Rei in Artist Alley who'd never suited before and wanted to. She was shorter than me, so I knew Kiska would fit her, so I offered her to wear my suit around for a bit. She jumped at the chance, so I headed up to the room to grab her and let Shiro know what was going on. Met up with her and she was hanging out with Roxas, so we went back to Pandez's room for her to change into my suit. On our way down the hall, we ran into Dobie, so we stopped off to talk to him for a bit. Shiro called and said he was running to Meijer with Cyan, so meanwhile Rei and I walked around until they got back. She was adorable as me! Shiro and Cyan got back, and we had run across Lucky, plus Helmet and Wifey were there, so we all went back up to our room to hang out. Dodger and Mari were there as well, plus their friend ToraKhan. Poor Rei. Her first furry con and she meets Cyan and Lucky and hangs out with them! Hahah. Deimos grabbed us some pizza and we ate.
Deimos grabbed my suit to go run around in her for a bit while we sat in the room and shot the shit and started drinking. I ran down to Pandez's room to grab Rei's tails and ears that she left down there, but only found the tails. She ended up claiming Deimos's tail as hers for the rest of the night. Deimos came back after about a half hour and it was nearing dance time again. I helped Shiro suit up and I partialed it up for the dance. We all headed down there and hung around for a bit, as the dance actually had people at it. Rei, Wifey, Helmet, and Deimos hung out outside the dance while Shiro, Pandez, Roxas, and I got down with our bad selves in the dance. After awhile we said bye to Helmet and Wifey soon the dance was all but over. We found an already-drunk Nuka there at the dance, as well as Lucky and his friend Chillymouse, and soon Ifus, Xander, Red, Rhia, a couple of their other friends, Sparks, Razz, and Gixxer were down hanging out with us. Well, if you saw my FWA post...you know what happens late at night with Razz and Gixxer. Insanity.
They had this long string of glowstick bracelets all chained together making a giant jump rope. They were trying to get Razz to jump in it but he couldn't figure it out, so their friend showed him what to do. Once Razz realized what he had to do, he was all over it...until the glowsticks pulled apart and went flying in two different directions. Always full of energy, he started doing cartwheels over people (me and Poonya, mainly) and hurdling tables. Lan and Firr also joined us for a bit with this nutso behavior. We basically hung out in the hallway outside the dance just screwing around for almost an hour. We helped a drunk Nuka gather his things and he gave his tail over to Rei, who also had my tail and Deimos's trenchcoat at this point. Ifus told me she was heading back to her room but would be up all night doing badges, and feel free to stop by to keep her awake. I told her I'd be up in a bit.
Shiro disappeared outside with Sparks and Firr, and Razz had taken off with my squeaky bottle, so Deimos, Rei and I chased him down with Nuka and Gixxer in tow. Chased them around outside out front only to run across Twizted, Dobie, and Arinmal. Razz realized the pool opened at 5 AM and it was now 4AM...suggesting we should stay up for another hour then go in the pool. See, these are the nutty ideas this husky comes up with lol! We all hung out outside for a bit, then I went to see if Shiro was up in the room yet. He wasn't, so I gave him a quick call, he was still outside chatting but was on his way up. I let him know I was gonna run down the hall to Ifus's room real quick but wouldn't be up late. First he was going to join, but upon getting back to the room realized how tired he was. Since we had check out the next morning, we decided against the pool, and I only hung out with Ifus, Xander, Deimos, and Rei for about 15 more minutes. I was tired as well.
We slept in a bit and realized we had check out at noon, so after some hurried showers, we packed up and tossed our totes in Cyan's room, and the rest of our belongings in the car. Shiro had intended to take them back to the apartment, but instead ran across Helmet and Wifey. I was back up in the room meanwhile making sure everything was out and nothing was left behind.
We were hungry, and our food group seemed to grow by the second, but everyone was getting distracted by Dealers Den or couldn't decide on food. We finally settled on another McD's run, while Helmet, Wifey, and Deimos went to the bar for food. While they went on a food run, I said my goodbyes to Dobie and his gang. After eating and getting henna done by MoonieKittyGirl, Rei wanted to suit one more time before leaving. She wanted to suit as Redpup, so since Shiro was getting his henna done and wouldn't be able to suit for a bit, I took her up to Cyan's room and tossed her in his suit. She suited around for about an hour as Mini-Red, finding Lucky in the fursuit games and getting some pics with him. It was getting time for her to go, so we got her out of suit and moved our totes out of Cyan's room. We said our goodbyes down in the lobby to her, Vid, Skye, Eldritch, Twiz, and Melody. Nuka had already left as well, so it was starting to get sad. Deimos also had to take off then too.
Shiro suited up and I found Lucky and suited up as Ooga Chaka. What a blast! I chased Shiro around in Ooga for awhile and terrorized con-goers. When Lucky got back, I swapped Ooga for Kiska and suited around with Shiro some more. We kept saying we were going to get food, but never did. First we ran across Da Pepster in the lobby, who had yet to meet Shiro. Then we started playing checkers in suit, which was awesome. Then we hung out with Blazger, Colin, and Antimon for awhile. Then we got pulled up to Furball's room to help make a hilarious video mocking this super-Christian spazz child. We did two takes and had so much fun. By now the Dead Dog was starting up so we made our way there to check it out. We ended up dancing with Pandez, Roxas, Bash, and Peg. Peg and Bash suit swapped with Lucky, making for more confusion. We were going to put Lucky in Shiro's suit, but it was getting late and we were getting hungry. We grabbed McD's one more time, sat and ate with Mojo, Zero, and Art. By then it was nearing midnight and Shiro had work the next day, so we set off for the sad task of making rounds and saying goodbyes. By 12:30, it was time to head on home.
What a con. Thanks to everyone who I hung out with who made it awesome. I hope I didn't leave out any names, but I probably did.
