A little nugget of gold that I've been too busy to type up.

A few weeks ago we had a mother (of an overseas Chinese) come to the office and demand to see her son's attendance. We told her that he must give us permission before we are allowed to show his grades/attendance to other people. So she does some yelling about how his tuition is her money, etc. Nothing I haven't heard before. But we tell her that if her son comes down with her that we'd be willing to show his grades to the both of them.

She storms off and DRAGS HIM OUT OF CLASS.

He shows up and is: "Fine, whatever. Show them to her."

So we do.

He's missed 2 days of class over a 2 month period of time.

The mother starts shrieking: "I knew it! I just knew it! You've been lying to me!"

And slaps her adult (college grad) son across the face.

Needless to say I think my entire office was shocked/stunned/horrified into silence.

Everything after that between mother and son was a major nuclear meltdown.
