HEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOEEEES!!!
*ahem* HEROES!:) I cannot believe I lived without watching this show for so long. Last year everyone kept telling me that it was something I'd like and foolishly I didn't really think about it. Recently I sat down and watched all of season one and now I eagerly await a new episode every single week. Today was the season finale for season two and
***** WARNING: SPOILERS *****
I am in denial. DENIAL. Nathan cannot be dead. Nathan!! My darling darling Nathan, who was just having a romantic brotherly moment with Peter in which I shouted "Kiss him you fool!" at both of them. Nathan, the guy on the show I inexplicably find the hottest. Nathan who is a complicated guy with shades of gray who fights his own "greater good" tendencies to do the right thing at the right time. I am VERY upset. Show, how could you do this to me!!!!?? It was a slap in the face when you killed my Mr.Bennet last week (the Batman of the show, all brains and no powers! How can we live without him?) but at least you brought him back, causing me to scream not once, but twice in one show and have to leave my jaw on the floor for awhile. If Nathan doesn't come back, I don't know if I will ever forgive you.
That one BIG THING aside, there are other things to talk about and distract myself with. How very EVIL Angela Petrelli is, how DARE she kill Nathan! Okay thats not another thing, I need something else to think about...I like how West began as a pervert stalker boy who would hover in the window and spy on Claire and causing me to yell "Stalker Pervert! Get away from her!" at him everytime Claire would stupidly get close to him, but now he's done a complete 180 and is a supportive and sweet guardian angel-type boyfriend. I adore all the scenes where he teamed up with Mr.Bennet to save Claire, conveniently forgetting that this is the man he's had nightmares about for years. Their partnership was really fun with all the cute details like Mr.Bennet trying to bond over what car he drives and West responding all "Cool!" like he wants to kiss up to his gfs dad:P I think West's flying goes really well with Mr.Bennet's planning and their team-up against an unknowing Elle (who was due for it really) was kickass. haha and when he came into the house with an unconscious Elle on his shoulder and nonchalantly said "Hi Mrs.Bennett" looking for all the world like the sweet boy-next-door. She of course looks at Mr.Bennet as if he suddenly converted West to his brand of secret agentness:)
Elle has grown on me, originally I found her childish way of speaking kind of irritating but now I find it really funny that she's like this kid who never grew up, always drinking slushies and trying to win her Daddy's love. I even get a kick out of it when I remember the way she treats people like toys. "He's not a toy, Elle." "He could be." It's just the way she says it:) Although I did enjoy her being intimidated for a change with Claire on the scene.
Claire's acting has gotten kind of one-note, she's always doing the lip tremble/nostril flare/clenched jaw thing while she overacts but she is a teenager and I suppose they do take everything like a dramatic soap opera. It was kind of nice watching her be a normal teenager for like two minutes when she had those cute scenes with West on the Hollywood sign. West can fly, so i don't see why they should break-up if he can come visit her.
Speaking of flying, how funny is it that poor Nathan has to carry the fattest Hero on his back while he flies:P Bet he's just plotting to put Matt on a diet. Nathan is hot, but he's not that young and he doesn't have superstrength, as West said very coolly to Mr.Bennett when he flying-kidnapped him.
Mr.Muggles is also a great character. I feel there can be no wrong in the world while he is around. I love how in the middle of a really serious dramatic scene they put in lines like "Did you pack Mr.Muggles doggy bath?". If anything happens to him I might stop watching the show lol, it would mean the universe has gone wrong.
So Angela Petrelli has basically told Matt that he has become his father because he took that last piece of info from her. Personally I think that's bullshit. I just can't believe that she wanted to not tell him about Victoria Pratt because she was nobly protecting her. She never did one noble thing for anybody in her life and I don't see why she'd be about to start. And the way she was willing to let Peter die last season and now Nathan this season, I think I'll vote her for the Cat's a Better Mother than You prize this year.
Mohinder is being remarkably stupid this year, totally falling for the company's act. He did have a great line though where he called them on being so dumb they didn't even realize he was a double agent when he's a total amateur and managed to infiltrate them completely.
The young Victoria Pratt was really pretty, like the old one. I really liked Hiro's coming to terms with his father's death in that short time traveling trip they took together although it made no sense whatsoever when he finally changed his mind. I felt so bad when I saw his poor dad crying over his mother's grave.
Peter is the character with the best powers of all (basically, ALL of them), but he is also the LAMEST one. I think they have a good justification for that though, because if he had any brains, he would be way too powerful for anyone to deal with. It's like having a joker in a deck of cards that just trumps anything. The only way to make him weaker is by making him so brilliantly not smart that he could never really take over the world (although we did get to see him being quite cool in the alternate future timeline, which is great to see and not have to live with permanently).
I don't really mind if they've killed Niki, she's pretty annoying most of the time. I wish they'd bring back Mohinder being smart, I really loved him when he was pitted against Sylar in the first season and actually realized who he was when he was pretending to be someone else. That was a very cool moment, I love a show that allows their characters some intelligence.
Maya and Alejandro are really very boring so I'm not sure I care that Maya is back from the dead. Poor Alejandro. Sucks to be dead while your sister makes out with your towel-clad killer about twelve inches away.
I really liked the episode where they showed what happened four months earlier with Peter and Nathan flying off. I love love love the irony of Peter having to fly and save Nathan a few minutes later, although it's kind of insane how quickly he regenerated. I really love Nathan for what a hero he was when he stepped up and told Peter that they saved the cheerleader so he could save the world and then did what he knew was the right thing to do. So much love. He's like the grinch or something, the politician whose heart grew a few sizes.
Peter and Nathan together is my favorite romance of the whole series:P They have so many lovey dovey moments and I don't know if its hilariously unintentional or if the writers are having fun with us. They always touch each other and hug and give each other meaningful looks. When Peter was in the hospital, Nathan even leaned over and kissed him lol. They say I love you more than anyone else on the show probably. And the sweetest thing is that they really believe in each other when its important. When Peter lost his powers, Adam told him that to get them back he had to think of someone important to him, someone he loved, and instead of thinking about his girlfriend Caitlin his thoughts immediately went to Nathan hahaha. Poor Caitlin though, right now she's probably thinking of how she'll dump Peter's ass the minute he saves her from the possibly the worst date in history, taking her to the future and leaving her to be decontaminated by men in Hazmat suits. I think Peter's also remarkably dumb about saving her, first he claimed he couldn't do it because he can't control his powers, but as every minute goes by his control improves and instead of going to get her back and coming back the next instant he still thinks the only way to save her is to destroy the virus. I mean, now that its gone, does this mean Caitlin is still in the future, but this time gets to keep her clothes?
ooh another example of the Great Epic Love of Peter and Nathan is how without Peter, Nathan the strong and worldly dirty politician completely crumbled. He lost his wife (I suppose he didn't feel the need for a beard anymore?), his kids, and most importantly, his position which he'd repeated sacrificed his family for in the election. Nothing matters to him without Pete:) I think that each is the other's moral compass and guidance and I think without Nathan, it's possible that Peter may turn evil.
Hiro leaving Adam in a grave is really cruel. It surprises me, I knew Hiro wouldn't want to kill anyone being the sweetie he is, but I can't believe he really thinks being buried alive is the kinder thing to do. I would think it would be more merciful to kill Adam/Kensei. Poor Hiro, he didn't even get the girl. The love of his life is stuck all alone in ancient Japan telling stories about Hiro to pass the time.
I really wish someone would just kill Sylar and rid him from our lives. I can't stand his cockroachy presence. I don't understand how that man has a girlfriend in real life, everything that comes out of his mouth sounds creepy. If he ever said anything normal like "Come to bed, honey" with that creepy slow smile of his, I'd be sure he was about to murder me.
Okay i guess I will go back to crying on the inside about Nathan. Nathaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan. Everyone I know is in love with Peter but I find him lame at times like his old Hair. Thank God for that haircut.
