.The Eyre Affair- Thursday Next 1 by Jasper Fforde- WHY have I never read this before? This was amazing, clever and exciting and so damn interesting.
.Tara Road by Maeve Binchy- It was alright, but a little too real. Life really is unfair.
.Tithe by Holly Black- This was really interesting. I haven’t read much that had to do with faerie, or much with a dark tone, so this was a really good introduction to both. I love the descriptions; I found the kelpie especially chilling. It was a compelling read and I hope there’s a sequel. Roiben is an especially complex and interesting character, my favorite kind.
.Lost In a Good Book-Thursday Next 2 by Jasper Fforde- This blew me away. I guess since we already understand how the Nextian universe is built, book two gets to concentrate on just the story itself and it does a damn good job. I adore all the little details and shout-outs to other books and some of the plot points are really gripping. Eeeeeeee I’m a converted fan now.
.The Well of Lost Plots-Thursday Next 3 by Jasper Fforde- Yay
.Red Dwarf 1- Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers by Grant Naylor
.Red Dwarf 2- Better Than Life by Grant Naylor- wow these were hilarious, like a sort of Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy with more likable characters.
.Death in the Air by Agatha Christie- nothing really distinguished this. It was alright.
.Evening Class by Maeve Binchy- I really love this one out of all her books because all the characters are really lovable, especially the first one introduced and I really really wanted them to be happy.
.Quentins- This was good too, although not as good as Evening Class. It seems like the writer has a lot of issues with infidelity though.
.Secret Adversary by Agatha Christie- This was great. I love the dialogue and the new detectives. The mystery was pretty good too, totally had me fooled. Tommy and Tuppence are the best.
.Parker Pine, Detective by Agatha Christie- I like his style, its definitely different from Poirot and Miss Marple. Fun read.
.Every Boy’s Got One by Meg Cabot- This was okay. Not that special really.
.Partners in Crime by Agatha Christie- This was great. I love Tommy and Tuppence and their dialogues are always a pleasure.
.N or M by Agatha Christie- totally good mystery, I didn’t guess it at all. Fun read.
.By the Pricking of my Thumbs by Agatha Christie- Extremely creepy. Good read if you want to feel creeped out as well.
.Crooked House by Agatha Christie- Good mystery although most of the characters weren’t that engaging.
.Lord Edgware Dies by Agatha Christie- REALLY good mystery. I guessed and I guessed and I didn’t get a single thing right.
.The Golem’s Eye by Jonathan Stroud- The beginning was quite slow, a lot of the characters are completely unlikable, but I wound up getting into it anyway and I really liked the plot.
.Kartography by Kamila Shamsie- I was really disappointed by this book. The basic plot was not believable at all, but the descriptions of Pakistan and the state of the country were great.
.Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman- The descriptions and the world built in this book are fantastic. Probably the most imaginative thing I’ve read all year.
.Persuasion by Jane Austen- I read this once a long time ago. I found it very good this time around too.
.Sandman by Neil Gaiman- What a fabulous, fantastic, amazing, wonderful comic series.
.Smoke and Mirrors by Neil Gaiman- I really liked most of the short stories in this collection, and I like that they’re very varied.
.Pippi Longstocking by Astrid Lindgren- This was a fun reread from my childhood. Pippi was just as fun as I remembered her, and twice as imaginative. I love that the author doesn’t try to tame her ever. She may never have manners but she has a heart as big as the world. All three books were really good.
.Pippi Goes Onboard by Astrid Lindgren
.Pippi in the South Seas by Astrid Lindgren
.The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho- I really should have read this years ago; it’s such a comforting book to read for someone who is unsure of where life is going. I think everyone should read this in high school.
.Tree of Gold by Rosalind Laker- Not very good.
.The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas- Wonderful
.The Art of Undressing by Stephanie Lehmann- This was interesting.
.Conrad’s Fate by Diana Wynne Jones- This was great and is going on my list of favorite DWJ books. It was funny and inventive and so immersing.
.Shopaholic and Sister by Sophie Kinsella- This was a funny read, but not as funny as the others in the series.
.Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling- I loved it loved it loved it loved.
.Artemis Fowl: The Opal Deception by Eoin Colfer - Another exciting, breakneck Artemis Fowl book. The suspense was great and the way the author got the characters out of jams was surprising and good.
.Nicola and the Viscount by Meg Cabot- I liked this because it was so absurd.
.The Harlequin Tea Set and Other Stories by Agatha Christie- This was just alright.
.Short Stories of Roald Dahl- I wasn’t too impressed by this.
.
The Flying Sorcerers - Short story anthology. Nor this.
.Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie - This was lots of fun to read.
.It’s in His Kiss by Julia Quinn- A Bridgerton book is always a good book. Not the best of them in terms of romance, but it was interesting.
.Halloween Party by Agatha Christie- Truly confusing mystery with so many loose ends to follow that when it concludes you wonder how it got that simple. I did guess the whodunit though, but that was just because of the way the characters were written.
.The Secret of Spiggy Holes by Enid Blyton
.Charlie All Night by Jennifer Crusie- alright
.Anyone but You by Jennifer Crusie- kinda sucky
.Confession of a Lingerie-Addict by Jennifer Ashley- not bad
.Victoria and the Rogue by Meg Cabot- Fun to read because the heroine is so very young and has the most stupid way of thinking sometimes
.Stardust by Neil Gaiman- Wow. This was everything I love about fairytales and myths and even realism.
.Coraline by Neil Gaiman- Very scary and very good.
.Ready or Not by Meg Cabot- Not that great at all. The first book was much, much better.
.Princess Diaries 6 Princess in Training by Meg Cabot- This was fun.
.Someone Like You by Roald Dahl- I don’t really like his short stories very much.
.Whose Body (Lord Peter Wimsey 1) by Dorothy L. Sayers-The mystery wasn’t really very thrilling at all and quite easily guessable, but the character of Lord Peter Wimsey I should like to see more of and see how he develops in the series.
.The Supernaturalist by Eoin Colfer- Interesting but strange.
.The Big Over Easy by Jasper Fforde- This was GREAT. The mystery was wonderful and the characters cool and familiar yet it was always fun to see the new twists.
.The Neverending Story by Michael Ende- This was just FANTASTIC. Wow. So incredibly imaginative in every way.
.The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella- this one wasn’t that great at all.
.The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom- I really didn’t like this. It’s supposedly meaningful but if you think about it, it’s just pointless.
.The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova- The beginning was interesting but then it became extremely dry and boring with all the historical documentation and too much description and I almost fell asleep. The end is also quite stupid, the villain is not terribly villainous, and his reasons for his evil deeds are not believable at all.I wish I hadn’t wasted time on this book.
.Let it Be Love by Victoria Alexander- I really liked this romance novel, it was fun and exciting and most of all, the characters acted more like real people than in any other romance novel I’ve ever read. Most romance novels have a point at which you know the heroine is about to succumb to the hero for no real reason when if she had a brain, she wouldn’t. As I read this, that point came up and just as I’d sadly resigned myself to it, I turned the page to find her refusing him, giving sensible reasons, and going straight home. I was dumbstruck and yet this novel isn’t unromantic at all, it’s just that the character motivations for the things they do are actually smart.
.The Book of Three by Lloyd Alexander
.The Black Cauldron by Lloyd Alexander
.The Castle of Llyr by Lloyd Alexander
.Taran Wanderer by Lloyd Alexander
.The High King by Lloyd Alexander- The ending was too Tolkien-ish and a little sad but it was a fabulous series. The Black Cauldron is my favorite out of all of them, and Taran Wanderer was good in terms of character development but as a story not as interesting as the others. I really loved The Castle of Llyr although it was more of a girl’s story. I can see why this series is a classic.
.Blossom Culp and the Sleep of Death by Richard Peck- This was fun. The narrator has a wickedly fun personality even if the plot is sort of childish, but then this is a child’s book.
.There is a Tide by Agatha Christie- The mystery was well-done but the ending really showed how pretty much everyone was unlikable in the book.
.Murder on the Links by Agatha Christie- good mystery
.Why Didn’t They Ask Evans by Agatha Christie- This was loads of fun, almost like a Tommy and Tuppence book with different characters.
.Double Exposure by Judith McNaught- short and insipid romance novel
.Mary Poppins by P.L. Travers- Classic children’s book. Reading it now though I do wonder, who the heck IS Mary Poppins? What is she supposed to be? Just somebody special I suppose…
.The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams- Very sweet. I am glad a book like this for children exists.
.The Case of the Four And Twenty Blackbirds by Neil Gaiman- clever short story. Rather reminds me of Jasper Fforde in terms of content. I always enjoy new twists on familiar things like nursery rhymes.
.The Monarch of the Glen by Neil Gaiman- short story sequel to American Gods. I liked it but since I don’t really know much about Grendel, it didn’t really have that much meaning for me.
.Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman- I liked this, but didn’t love it. It’s lighter than American Gods, and humorous, but not really hilarious at all. Maybe it’s because I didn’t really identify with any of the characters and didn’t really find it engaging, nor did I think the ending was that great.
97. The Horse and his Boy by C.S. Lewis
98. Prince Caspian by C.S. Lewis
99. The Magician’s Nephew by C.S. Lewis-I’d forgotten these books since I read them as a child, but they were even better than I remember. The books are so richly written and so short yet full of happenings.
.Murder at Hazelmore by Agatha Christie- eh. I guessed whodunit in about five minutes.
