As
americanstd mentioned, yeah, we had a bit of an accident today while I was driving. Nothing major; I was backing out of a parking space and there was a very, very high tree truck behind me. I was watching out the driver's side window for incoming traffic (this is the Carl's Jr/Green Burrito in the Linda Vista/Morena/Napa triangle so there's that traffic plus the exit off the 5) and I backed into it. The tree truck was so high that it hit the upper left corner of my back windshield, shattering it. The car is now up having the back windshield replaced. Insurance is covering most of it, but I feel stupid and clumsy.
And yes, dinner was mahi-mahi with spicy peanut sauce, served over greens. Costco had a good price on frozen mahi-mahi fillets, and mahi-mahi is a yummy fish, suitable for grilling, kebabs, and tacos, so we grabbed it. I haven't really cooked since I got back. I mean, I've made numerous breakfasts and quick dinners, but I hadn't taken down a recipes, lined up my ingredients and *cooked*.
Tomorrow's task is to write to dissertation advisor to argue about suggestions he's made. He won't respond till after the New Year, but it'll be out of the way. He wants me to cut out the section on the history of the conquest of Mexico, but I've shown this work to several people who don't know the history and they've said it's needed as background and that it opens up different "doors" into the rest of the book.
Continuing on my popular book on Ocotlan probably isn't a bad idea either. There's also my Black Virgins thesis I need to work on, but for that to be really presentable I need a fat advance so I can actually go to France and take photos for it. An Ocotlan book might allow me to do that.
Finally, it occurs to me that there aren't a lot of books on the Cathars in English. Since my interests seem to be moving into religious history as opposed to theology, this is a topic I'd like to pursue in future.
