I think I'm finally starting to understand why people keep asking me why I sound British when I read. I feel like half the problem is that I'm speaking about half the speed that I normally do and actually making all the sounds in words (oh god, my super-thick California accent makes slurring syllables really easy and I have to try so hard not to do it and I still end up with words that sound funny) so it's kind of like in Hoodwinked?
You know, the part where the squirrel (I think it's a squirrel) is hyped up because he's had coffee and he's speaking so fast that no one can understand him so they record his voice and play it back more slowly only instead of his squeaky voice it's a manly Old Spice voice.
Slow me down and I sound weird. That's the moral of this story.

So when I was recording this on my phone was when I discovered that my phone is dumb and occasionally stops recording after a couple of minutes because it feels like it. I recorded it three times before I wised up and though "oh. OH. maybe I should see if I can fix the problem instead of just sitting here and glaring at my phone."
To be fair, it was like 4am and I was maybe not entirely coherent. My twitter feed will tell you, because I spent the entire four or five hours before recording this podfic talking about how I was rolling around on the floor and how I am apparently a firework. It didn't make more sense in context, really.

I recorded this THREE TIMES because it's an ornery BITCH.
Okay, it was actually more like two and a half. The first time I recorded it, I got partway through and trashed the whole recording when I realized I had been rolling on the floor for most of the recording and the background noise was . . . weird. Don't ask. And then the second recording got corrupted, because apparently if I'm recording for longer than 10 minutes without the screen on, something goes haywire with my phone. I got that shit fixed, though!
(I mean, obviously. You're looking at this recording.)
