So this week's project has four parts: first I tell you my history with a pairing and why I ship it, then I give you some headcanon about the pairing, then I give you a song that I associate with the pairing, and finally I tell you everyone else I ship those characters with (haha kill me now).
I apologize in advance for some of the song choices and insist on particular covers for certain songs so. If you've never heard the particular version, check it out.
(For any polyamorous ships, I left off combinations of the characters contained. Assume I ship them all.)
Brendon/Jon/Ryan/Spencer [Bandom]
My history/why I ship it: Some people had MyChem, I had Jesse McCartney. I also, however, had Panic! at the Disco to carry me through the intense manipulation game that made up most of my relationship with my second boyfriend. (It was mutual manipulation, if you were wondering. We were one of those couples that was basically a ticking time bomb of who fucks up the game first, somewhat Sherlock and Irene.) I think Panic might have been the first time I sat down and when "but I just want ALL OF THEM TO PUT THEIR FACES TOGETHER." So, you know. My history with them is that they're one of the reasons I solve everything with polyamory.
Headcanon: In my head, Ryan and Brendon usually get together first, Ryan brings Spencer because everything is better with Spencer, and then they add Jon after A LOT of half-had conversation and negotiation and thinking "okay, maybe we can make this work."

My history/why I ship it: So I watch watching Big Time Rush and I really love fake boy bands and I just. Logan and Carlos are so dorky together, being the smart guy and the kind of dorky guy and I JUST WANT THEM TO BE CUTE TOGETHER FOREVER PLEASE AND THANK YOU.
Headcanon: Logan tutored Carlos in math using a system of rewards that varied from kisses to fishsticks.

My history/why I ship it: I watched all of El Cazador in like two days because paranomasias was like "there are cute lesbians and also guns!" which are things I am so down with and I just. This anime is so good I can't stand it and the fact that Nadie and Ellis clearly love each other even though they never say those exact words.
Headcanon: Sometimes Nadie just sings to Ellis when she asleep.

My history/why I ship it: All Florina wants is TO BE USEFUL TO LYN. She gets over her fear of dudes to be useful to Lyn! She fights for Lyn! Screw this Hector dude who she's giggly with FLORINA HAS BEEN THERE AND WILL ALWAYS BE THERE FOR LYN.
Headcanon: Florina takes Lyn for rides on her pegasus late at night during times of peace.

Other ships with these characters: I guess I could ship Hector/Lyn/Florina. But no, because Lyn and Florina are perfect for each other.
Jamie/Dylan [Friends with Benefits]
My history/why I ship it: I went to see Friends with Benefits with twistedskylove and I enjoyed it greatly for being a deconstruction of the romcom at the same time it was one. Also, just. FLASH MOB WEDDINGS!
Headcanon: I firmly believe they have a flash mob wedding kind of like this.

My history/why I ship it: I shipped this before Sam was even introduced, okay. From the moment I learned his name was Sam Evans I was like "you poor lost evens child. HERE LET ME SHIP YOU WITH KURT." All Evanses should be QUILTBAG friendly, okay? They're Evanses! (Also they'd be supercute together and I just. Blaine annoys me sometimes.)
Headcanon: I firmly believe that Sam and Ryan are cousins and Sam is like "HOW DOES I BOYDATING" and Ryan laughs a lot. But he helps Sam out and also he gives Kurt a very firm "if you hurt my baby cousin's heart, I will unravel your Hugo Boss thread by thread" talk.

My history/why I ship it: I basically shipped Santana/Brittany/Quinn/Rachel in the first season because of this fanfic series I read and then, as the series progressed, I just fell in love with the dynamic between Santana and Brittany. But then Glee betrayed me and stabbed a broadsword through my ship and now I'm left with the broken pieces of what was totally beautiful.
Headcanon: Brittany always brings Santana chocolate when they're on their periods.

My history/why I ship it: I think I was really incoherent and said "he's fucking ryan evans. I should write that." to which 1st_eggokage said "Fic where he's Ryan or fic where he's fucking Ryan?" and I said the second one which lead to Don’t Trip Off the Glitz. (and the addition of Chad) and then the whole Glitter Herpes universe was a thing that happened. It's become less centered around Adam/Ryan/Chad recently, because I found out that if I try hard enough, I can shove anything into Glitter Herpes, but it started with them and they are very dear to my heart.

My history/why I ship it: I don't remember when I found HoneySyn or who introduced me, but I remember cheering when Josh kissed Metis, because jocks like you don't like nerds like me and I JUST WANTED THE NERD TO GET THE GUY FOR ONCE. You can suck cock and like Star Wars, just like you can suck cock and play sports so. I don't know, Metis and Josh are a dynamic I really like and they're part of the reason I got into college so this ship is super near and dear to my heart.
Headcanon: Josh and Metis both couldn't figure out how gay sex worked and ended up having to watch porn to educate themselves.

My history/why I ship it: There's really just something about the dynamic of people who are catty and hit each other to express their feelings that I really like and just. The fact that Sam actually checks herself into a mental institution because she thinks she's crazy for loving him and he say that maybe he should check himself in too and THERE ARE CANON SHIP WARS and oh my god. So many feelings. SO. MANY. FEELINGS.
Headcanon: Freddie carries around a Fatcake or two just for emergency Sam cheer-ups.

My history/why I ship it: . . . Because . . . it's . . . pretty . . . ? No, like. I've only seen the movie once and most of that movie was me going WHEEEEE MULTIPLE STORY LEVELS!!! so I didn't ship much of anything but man oh man are Arthur and Eames pretty together and all of the fanfic is great and just. I think I blame organizedcure and probably also Rule Ten. Definitely their faults.
Headcanon: Oh jeez. My headcanon is that Arthur and Eames repeatedly invite Ariadne around for a tumblr and she just stares at them long and hard and they give up for the moment.

Ginny/Sara [IRL RPF]
My history/why I ship it: Because Ginny and Sara is canon and if you don't ship it you're wrong and you should feel wrong. Also they're stupidly cute together and I just cannot with them.
Headcanon: Ginny and Sara are like Rory and Amy and I'm the Doctor and I keep accidentally leaving them places.

My history/why I ship it: I started watching Merlin and liveblogging it with the tag #medievalhomos as a joke, but then the show really was that gay and I cannot with Merlin and Arthur's big gay selves!!! They've really only gotten more gay as the seasons have gone on, imho, and I really like Merlin/Freya but there's just something about ~destiny~ that makes me smile.
Headcanon: I like to believe that Merlin's asexual or at least demisexual and biromantic.

My history/why I ship it: My parents apparently really like NCIS so I ended up watching a lot of marathons of it on USA over the summer and just. I love the snarky interactions between Tony and Ziva and how they genuinely care about each other and how they're always flirting and how Ziva knows when to tell Tony to man the fuck up and just. They're good.
Headcanon: Tony totally has a copy of those photos McGee never deleted. He's just a lot better about keeping them hidden.

My history/why I ship it: twistedskylove made me watch Parks&Rec and I just. Aubrey Plaza is flawless and April is flawless and the way April/Andy progresses until they're like. Getting married and ugh! They are so cute I cannot stand it!
Headcanon: Andy is usually off by their anniversary by about a month, although sometimes he confuses it with April's birthday.

My history/why I ship it: My parents showed me this movie when I was really young and I am pretty sure I've seen it at least fifty times (four of those were in a row when my little brother and I were too lazy to change the DVD out) and I just. They are meant to be together forever and just. As you wish, okay? As you wish.
Headcanon: Buttercup gets Westley to brush her hair sometimes when she doesn't want to.

My history/why I ship it: I went to go see this movie with twistedskylove and I don't know. Something about how tragic they are and how they really do seem to care about each other really appeals to me.

My history/why I ship it: I solve a lot of my problems by squinting really hard and shoving the problem ships together. All of the cutesy photos of Emma and Andrew gave me a shipping crisis and so my brain just fixed the problem by pairing them all up together which is considerably hotter and also I just like threesomes. Polyamory ftw?
Headcanon: In my head, I think, Jesse and Emma usually have a thing going on and then Andrew pines a lot and Emma raises her eyebrow in that way that means "you're an idiot" and Andrew tumbles into bed with them.

Headcanon: Dakota is a terrible cocktease, and she leaves dirty messages and things on Kristen and Robert's phones, so when she FINALLY turns 18, both Rob and Kristen haved cleared that date and wish her happy birthday in person. With sex.

My history/why I ship it: This is going to take some explaining, I think. So okay, there's this verse I have called Corrupted (sometimes just "art school au") and it started out as a Andrew/Jesse thing based on my actual freshman year and then I accidentally, um. I accidentally plotted out a whole lot more to the universe and I just wanted Ke$ha to be an individualized major who puts on gallery shows where she dumps vats of glitter on the floor and makes glitter angels in them but sometimes she helps out that weird film major James who sometimes also does performance art with her like reading a poem Ke$ha pulled out of her vagina and James works with the visionary director Joseph a lot of the time (they made Tulip Destroyed together) and they're really good friends and also Joseph just wants to get some work done without Ke$ha and James fucking against a wall but eventually he just gives up and decides that if you can't beat them, you should join them. Anyway they're super hot and they're super not serious and just looking for a good time, mostly. Yes? Yes.

Headcanon: After they escape (stealing Cortez's boat), they work out their relationship and then they have Flynn! Who has two gay dads and a very chill mom.

My history/why I ship it: This is 1st_eggokage's fault again, because she made me watch this movie and Dakota+Kristen are actually great in this also it's a canon ship apparently??? Unlike TSN where it's just heavily implied, Joan/Cherie is an actual thing that actually happened. Besides, I'm a sucker for relationships that are going to self destruct.
Headcanon: Joan has a huge corset problem.

My history/why I ship it: I've never read the comics, but I went to go see this movie with my roommate and basically went "YES THIS IS A GOOD MOVIE. BE MINE FOREVER." Something about Ramona/Scott just totally reminds me of my relationship with this dude I'm still friends with and I just really think that they're good for each other and SURE KNIVES IS COOL BUT THE MOVIE IS POINTLESS IF HE GETS BACK WITH KNIVES. YOU HAVE WATCHED HIM BE AN ASSHOLE, BASICALLY.
Headcanon: Ramona tops the fuck out of Scott.

My history/why I ship it:My history with Sherlock Holmes is long and complicated and mostly can be summed up as "I wanted to be Sherlock very badly when I was young." I've even found myself a Watson! Anyway, I really ship myself and my Watson (twistedskylove) in a largely platonic manner because we would be much like the Sherlock and John in the "if you could" verse. A little twisted, a lot wrong, and certain to self-destruct.
Headcanon: There is a list taped to the fridge that Sherlock largely ignores which lists Things Sherlock Isn't Allowed To Do (Anymore). It has recently been replaced with a single sheet of paper with DON'T BE DEAD sharpied onto it in very large letters.

Headcanon: Eugene liked being tied up and Rapunzel does that for him sometimes.

My history/why I ship it: I just. I started watching their videos, and I shipped them so much but I thought that I was the only one who was contemplating writing fic until I found youtube_slash and then, well. He will forever and always be my first love, and no one can take that from me.

Project: A Guide to my OTPs.

So this week's project has four parts: first I tell you my history with a pairing and why I ship it, then I give you some headcanon about the pairing, then I give you a song that I associate with the pairing, and finally I tell you everyone else I ship those characters with (haha kill me now).
I apologize in advance for some of the song choices and insist on particular covers for certain songs so. If you've never heard the particular version, check it out.
(For any polyamorous ships, I left off combinations of the characters contained. Assume I ship them all.)
Brendon/Jon/Ryan/Spencer [Bandom]
My history/why I ship it: Some people had MyChem, I had Jesse McCartney. I also, however, had Panic! at the Disco to carry me through the intense manipulation game that made up most of my relationship with my second boyfriend. (It was mutual manipulation, if you were wondering. We were one of those couples that was basically a ticking time bomb of who fucks up the game first, somewhat Sherlock and Irene.) I think Panic might have been the first time I sat down and when "but I just want ALL OF THEM TO PUT THEIR FACES TOGETHER." So, you know. My history with them is that they're one of the reasons I solve everything with polyamory.
Headcanon: In my head, Ryan and Brendon usually get together first, Ryan brings Spencer because everything is better with Spencer, and then they add Jon after A LOT of half-had conversation and negotiation and thinking "okay, maybe we can make this work."

My history/why I ship it: I went to see Friends with Benefits with twistedskylove and I enjoyed it greatly for being a deconstruction of the romcom at the same time it was one. Also, just. FLASH MOB WEDDINGS!
Headcanon: I firmly believe they have a flash mob wedding kind of like this.

My history/why I ship it: I shipped this before Sam was even introduced, okay. From the moment I learned his name was Sam Evans I was like "you poor lost evens child. HERE LET ME SHIP YOU WITH KURT." All Evanses should be QUILTBAG friendly, okay? They're Evanses! (Also they'd be supercute together and I just. Blaine annoys me sometimes.)
Headcanon: I firmly believe that Sam and Ryan are cousins and Sam is like "HOW DOES I BOYDATING" and Ryan laughs a lot. But he helps Sam out and also he gives Kurt a very firm "if you hurt my baby cousin's heart, I will unravel your Hugo Boss thread by thread" talk.

But then Glee betrayed me and stabbed a broadsword through my ship and now I'm left with the broken pieces of what was totally beautiful.
Headcanon: Brittany always brings Santana chocolate when they're on their periods.

(and the addition of Chad) and then the whole Glitter Herpes universe was a thing that happened. It's become less centered around Adam/Ryan/Chad recently, because I found out that if I try hard enough, I can shove anything into Glitter Herpes, but it started with them and they are very dear to my heart.

I don't know, Metis and Josh are a dynamic I really like and they're part of the reason I got into college so this ship is super near and dear to my heart.
Headcanon: Josh and Metis both couldn't figure out how gay sex worked and ended up having to watch porn to educate themselves.

So many feelings. SO. MANY. FEELINGS.

My history/why I ship it: . . . Because . . . it's . . . pretty . . . ? No, like. I've only seen the movie once and most of that movie was me going WHEEEEE MULTIPLE STORY LEVELS!!! so I didn't ship much of anything but man oh man are Arthur and Eames pretty together and all of the fanfic is great and just. I think I blame organizedcure and probably also Rule Ten. Definitely their faults.
Headcanon: Oh jeez. My headcanon is that Arthur and Eames repeatedly invite Ariadne around for a tumblr and she just stares at them long and hard and they give up for the moment.

They've really only gotten more gay as the seasons have gone on, imho, and I really like Merlin/Freya but there's just something about ~destiny~ that makes me smile.
Headcanon: I like to believe that Merlin's asexual or at least demisexual and biromantic.

They're good.
Headcanon: Tony totally has a copy of those photos McGee never deleted. He's just a lot better about keeping them hidden.

Headcanon: Andy is usually off by their anniversary by about a month, although sometimes he confuses it with April's birthday.

I accidentally plotted out a whole lot more to the universe and I just wanted Ke$ha to be an individualized major who puts on gallery shows where she dumps vats of glitter on the floor and makes glitter angels in them but sometimes she helps out that weird film major James who sometimes also does performance art with her like reading a poem Ke$ha pulled out of her vagina and James works with the visionary director Joseph a lot of the time (they made Tulip Destroyed together) and they're really good friends and also Joseph just wants to get some work done without Ke$ha and James fucking against a wall but eventually he just gives up and decides that if you can't beat them, you should join them. Anyway, I really ship myself and my Watson (twistedskylove) in a largely platonic manner because we would be much like the Sherlock and John in the "if you could" verse. A little twisted, a lot wrong, and certain to self-destruct.
Headcanon: There is a list taped to the fridge that Sherlock largely ignores which lists Things Sherlock Isn't Allowed To Do (Anymore). It has recently been replaced with a single sheet of paper with DON'T BE DEAD sharpied onto it in very large letters.
