Due to poor choices by my brother, his Main was hacked.
I've been playing the toon, a warrior tank, just a bit, mostly just enough for him to be useful to me as a JC and a miner, because my brother has left the game again.
Yeah.
So anyway, I'm playing on one of the other accounts, and toon in question logs in. Hmmm. That doesn't seem right. I send him a tell: "who is this?" to which he replies "Guilbert", which of course is the completely wrong answer for reasons I won't go into right now.
I logged out, called Blizzard, they reset the email to my work address, and the password, and I logged into that account and found the toon standing in front of a vendor, with the buyback full of stuff from his bank.
I grabbed it all back and submitted a GM ticket per the directions I was given, and we'll see what happens.
I have never felt so violated in all my life.
I think that only in terms of magnitude, this must be not completely dissimilar to what rape feels like. That is a horrible comparison. Someone breaking into your home. There, that makes more sense. It remains an unideal comparison, because there is nothing physically missing, there is no actual danger.
But the helplessness in the face of the blatant arrogance of some stupid bastard, who is taking your stuff just because he can. I think that feeling is similar. Here is something you just can't understand: how I could just kill a man.
Anyway, the whole thing left me very upset, so much so that I skipped work ! Over a video game !
