We all know of the intense political opinions found in MovieTown and what-have-you. I've frankly stopped caring about what they have to say--be it left or right wing. However, I've come across this quote from one of the Dixie Chicks today,
"The entire country may disagree with me, but I don't understand the necessity for patriotism. Why do you have to be a patriot? About what? This land is our land? Why? You can like where you live and like your life, but as for loving the whole country ... I don't see why people care about patriotism."
This actually sparked my interest, as, while I still think she's a ditz, she brings up a valid point of conversation. So I'd like to discuss it with all of you. Do you see a point in patriotism? Is it necessary? Is it right or wrong? I'd like to see you POV.
And remember, as always, please remain civil.
