Why I Am Not a Communist

Feb 24, 2008 19:07

I got a call from Senator John McCain the other morning. After promising to lead the country as a good Ronald Reagan conservative, he emphasized that his top priority will be to win the war against Islamic Extremism. It occurred to me that now that Islamic extremism is the new boogeyman for jingoists, it was about time I thought about becoming a card-carrying member of the Communist Party.
Alas, I can't afford the dues. They are quite reasonable ($5 a month) but I'm just not serious enough. I want to be a Communist for the fun of it. Oh, well, I can always access the handsomely designed CPUSA web site when it's up. Because of a glitch, I can't pay dues on line yet anyway. Nor do I have a vehicle at this time that I can decorate with CPUSA bumper stickers, if they have them. Maybe I'll buy one and put it on my backpack!
