What time is it?

I had an adventure today!

Mostly it was just me walking around Helena and doing light shopping, but it was bookended well. I started off going to a little bookstore next to the staffing agency I am working for at the moment. It appears to be a converted house, which makes sense, because the interior of the place looked as if a Book Hoarder decided "Man, I gotta thin my collection out!" and hung a Book Store sign on their porch. The interior looked like it was organized once upon a time, but mostly consisted of loosely-sorted book piles next to overstuffed shelves, and the whole place smelled of musty books and cigar. It was run by a really nice, really old man who brightend up when he saw that I had found a nice leatherbound Dashiell Hammet collection for $5 that I wanted to buy. He seems to really love books, which is good because he seems to run his business mostly via momentum and force of will.

I ended the night by deciding I needed some dinner, and so I whipped out my phone and pulled up Yelp, and found that there was a Mexican place nearby that had been rated four stars. Now, listen: I spent almost twenty years living in Texas, and then the next ten years living in Portland, Oregon. I know that "Good Mexican Food" is not really a thing you're gonna get from a resturant here. But I keep trying new places in the hopes I'll stumble upon "Acceptable". The first thing I noticed was that the salsa they brought me appeared to be Pico De Gallo mixed into pizza sauce. Really heavy tomato sauce with a smattering of chunky vegetables. I looked around at the atmosphere, and it was kinda a typical small-mexican-place asethetic: You know, lots of stucco and bare wood, and kinda run down. That's normal and does not nessissarily suggest a bad experience, though what WAS unusual was their decision to light the place very brightly and play no music at all. And, you guys, things did not improve from there.

I make questionable decisions sometimes, you guys.

I will say this, damning-with-faint-priase as it is, but the service was actually excellent. The waitstaff was completely on the ball the whole time. Just the atmosphere was awful and the food was borderline disgusting.

Anyway, on the subject of pokemans, I am intending to get some more done this weekend. Sorry, I finally got a job this week so I've been really busy.
