Hey, long time no post. College is a strange experience. Still not sure if I like it or not. o.O A lot of late nights and early mornings and mundane food and afternoon naps.

As for classes... Religion is easy. Boring, but easy. Math is hard. >.< I'm not doing as well in Japanese as I'd like, but I think I can pick it up. I think I'm doing fine in Anthro. I'm pretty sure I'm doing great in IH. In other words, inconsistency across the board. I'm still trying to get a handle on how college works. I should also mention I'm thinking *vaguely* of transfering. Not sure that I want to yet, but I'm bored here. I'm only in the Literary Magazine and Crosswalk as far as clubs, and Crosswalk is not fun at all so far. (It's a youth group, fyi, but there's no obvious youth pastor, so there's no one to go to with questions or problems, so it feels really dumb, especially when you're bordering on agnosticism like me. Even though I still pray. Better safe than sorry, I guess.) I want to join more clubs and meet people. I emailed twelve clubs the other day and NONE of them have gotten back to me. I think some haven't started their meetings yet, or aren't until after homecoming. The biggest issue I have with this school is how much of a party school it is. I knew it could be like that going in, but I didn't really understand what we meant by "party school." I figured it meant there would be lots of parties and lots of kids would go to them, not that MOST of the events would be parties and MOST kids would go to them. Also, because it's a public university, so many students are from PA, so they go home on weekends, which makes staying here very lonely.

I find solace in writing, hanging with my friends, and rping on Gaia and Nightscrawlerearth. (I have a character in Nightscrawlerearth now - Elixir!) Last weekend I went to Kate's house. Haha, when I stress out or panic I am so unbearable. I must have annoyed her so much 'cause I was so stressed about finding the right train and the fact that I thought I'd left my computer on. But I was good after that. XD She has a really big, really gorgeous house, and it was nice to sleep in a real bed. (Probably the nicest bed I've ever been in, in fact.) On Sunday we visited her Lutheran church, which had a nice service. But during communion, I was bewildered 'cause I'd never done it that way before. In my church, we sat in pews and crackers and grape juice were brought to us. We threw out the plastic glasses ourselves afterward. At this church, you get given a BIG scrap of pita bread and have five seconds (literally!) to eat it before taking the wine (it's only 1% alcohol), then another five seconds to drink that and give it to the lady collecting the glasses. I was so freaked out and didn't have time to eat the pita bread, so I stuffed it in my pocket and drank the wine fast. I had the body of Christ in my pocket. o.O After that we went to her mall, which is small and cute and has everything you'll need, except bagels! (Or a McDonalds, come to think of it. I don't think I saw one. Go figure!) We visited a comic book shop and I finally got Mystic Arcana: Scarlet Witch. We tried to figure out a good place for Kate to start with Green Lantern, but I know nothing about him and neither did the clerk, so she was kind of stuck. :(

This weekend I really want to try to figure out how to get to the comic book store on South Street. I know how to get to the one by way of Market Street, vaguely, so I might try that. I have to read Uncanny #491. I want to know what happened and no one's giving good spoilers!!! Erg. >.<

The art for X-men #204 looks fantastic. For some reason, one site listed the artist as Bachalo, which is obviously isn't. No way. It looks similar to Silvestri's or Brooks's styles. Very realistic and beautiful.

New X-men is really interesting. Definitely an underrated title. Just because they're kids, people assume it's a kids bok, but it's not. It's hardcore. It makes the original X-men look like amateurs. (Which is one thing about it I don't like - the kids upstage the older characters a lot. But it is there title!)

Signing off for now.

new x-men, life, uncanny x-men, friends, x-men, college
