So... Pietro is acting all Messiah complex-ish. (As of X-factor #23.) But he may have just gotten his head ripped off. I wonder if this is the end for ol' Quicksilver. (Yeah, right.) My question is, much as I loved this issue, and the possibility of Pietro having the Messiag complex, when exactly did he become religious? "The task God has given me," and whatnot. At any rate, he's clearly trying to absolve himself of guilt for what Wanda did. But he's no more at fault than Magneto or Wanda herself, as far as I can see. Of course, there are details yet hidden. Also, I wonder if the science-based story of Endangered Species is going to wind up entwined with the magic-based story of Mystic Arcana. I kind of think that's what's ultimately going to happen. Not to say the two titles are going to become intermixed, just that they're both leading up to the same huge event.
Recently, Marvel has announced that post-MC, a few specific characters will have had their lives drastically changed. These characters are Madrox, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Mystique, and Layla Miller. There may also be one other I'm forgetting. I was surprised that Rogue wasn't mentioned, but maybe it's considered a given. Anyway, I'm excited about all of these. Madrox is not a favorite character of mine, but I've really enjoyed him in X-factor. He was also mentioned by Dark Beast in Endangered Species because, apparently, in AoA, Madrox's duplication abilities came in handy for Dark Beast when he needed many subjects to experiment on. Plus it's always sort of been hinted that Madrox may not actually be a mutant. So there's a lot of stuff to work with when you're writing about Madrox. Cyclops has had a lot of stuff happen to him lately - excluding Astonishing, his father has died, he's met a crazy half-brother bent on destruction, lost his brother somewhere in space, and lost faith in Professor X, his mentor and surrogate father. I think likely the way he's going to "change" is related to how the X-men are going to be broken up in a couple months. He's the sole head of the team now. Stepping down would be the biggest change but I don't see that happening. Not sure what to say about Mystique and Layla other than, Mystique's involvement with Sinister and Rogue, plus her betrayal of the X-men, is leading to something, and Layla being a creation of Wanda's explains both why Pietro wanted to kill her and that we don't really know what she is anyway, which could be reasons for change. As for Nightcrawler, he's been a nobody character lately, so I was surprised to see his name on the list. But elsewhere it was mentioned that our somber Nightcrawler will soon be returning to his preferred swashbuckler personality. So this could be the change indicated. I kind of hope it's more than that (he's got a zillion dangling plot threads just begging to be tied), but a swashbuckling 'Crawler will make me happy too.
