Okay so stepping out of my ranting trousers, I'm going to blog about more normal (read: boring) things!
I've been incredibly busy doing various photo-shoots, mainly family portraits covering a range of ages. The Christmas run up is definitely keeping me on my toes, but I can honestly say that I am in a very good place with my level of photography at the moment. Next year, I will hopefully have some time to learn new editing and lighting techniques - I still can't shake the feeling that my work is a bit samey. I know it's nice to have a style, but I don't feel like I'm pushing myself to progress and be individual, I think 5 million other photographers can do exactly what I do. Thoughts?
I did 16 sets of acting headshots for Dundee College a couple of weeks ago, which went quite well. I was nervous about it, but seemed to do alright. I learned a lot of things I would probably tweak if I was asked to do it another time, but at least I didn't die!
I have never been this busy and I'm loving it, but I'm slightly worried that January will be very quiet. If it is, I will put a lot of effort into learning to drive and developing my skills as a photographer. For now, I'm just going to appreciate the influx of paid work and go with it!
This weekend is shaping up to be MAD! Malcolm (the other half, in case you didn't know) and I are going to his works Christmas Party. It is being held at the Fairmont Hotel in St Andrews this coming Saturday, and I've found a lovely dress to wear. It is a red ball-gown style dress, and is apparently a size 6. Seriously, I'm fairly certain this is a case of dress designers making dresses bigger so that people need a size down instead of up, making them feel super skinny! I'm usually an 8 in dresses and a 10 in jeans (I like being able to bend my knees too much to wear size 8 jeans!) but LOOK OUT MODELS!! Me and my "size 6" figure will be taking your jobs! O_o I am a little worried that the dress might be too over-the-top despite the forwarded e-mail I received stating formalwear is the way to go. Might take a back-up dress!!
We are going to stay overnight as a mini-break for ourselves. I have a photo-shoot on Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon, so I think I will stay in my bed all day Monday!
Also, you know you are getting old when you wouldn't say no to a really good hoover for Christmas! Although I might pick up some photography-related presents for myself instead, it's too tempting. Does anyone know of any Christmas Crackers you can buy that have Jessops vouchers inside instead of a paper hat? I like the hats, but I'm willing to sacrifice here! ;)
Hope everyone is doing well! x
