Two drabbles

Aug 05, 2008 11:04

Leah tossed in her sleep, in the forest, in her own bed.

Jacob would stay up and stroke her forehead sometimes, cooing things like “It will be all right” or “It’s just a bad dream”.

Nightmare was more like it.

She groaned and gasped in her sleep some nights. She sweated bullets and shivered violently. At times she cried, no, sobbed, and her body shook under the crushing weight of all her demons manifesting themselves in her dreams.

Jacob knew exactly the monster that chased her:
The fear of being left behind by the only person she had ever loved.

Title Circles and Hearts
Rating G
Characters Leah Clearwater, Jacob Black, Sam Uley
Word Count 100

Leah remembers the night she and Sam slow-danced to the sound of thunder and rain pounding on the roof. She remembers her clumsy legs and awkward torso, the way Sam made her feel like a ballerina between his arms, the elegant dip and the kiss they shared when it ended.

Still, none of it compares to this.

She and Jacob are sitting on the floor at the foot of her bed, silent. Jacob is tracing circles and hearts into Leah’s palm; Leah is tracing circles and hearts into the nape of Jacob’s neck.
She wouldn’t trade it for the world.
