And in a way, I feel a little sick about it, in that way you do after sex that you just feel sweaty and gross and there's another human being touching you, but it's that emotional impact that really cemented this. The period and the blood on the sheets and Molly's oblivious parents, they all struck these chords like life goes on, Molly is sexually abused, life goes on, and the capability of it being so very possible is what hits and it is a very powerful blow. I'm so pleased to hear that you found Jim's characterization convincing, and also that you were tempted to believe him---that's really what I was going for. It's so easy in hindsight to think we wouldn't be fooled by something like this, or even to think that we couldn't be taken in by someone so monstrous once we're no longer children, but I was hoping to show that even if you aren't a lonely, attention-starved twelve y.o. a bit of charm in the right place at the right time can pull the wool over anyone's eyes.
SWEATY AND GROSS IS FANTASTIC, ALSO. I WILL TAKE THAT AS A COMPLIMENT! Thank you. :D
