This is gorgeous. And I totally, totally buy that Eames would be the secretly sentimental one and Mal would be the one who just wanted to run around doing stuff.
“I don’t want to be anyone’s wife,” Mal told him. “Yours least of all.”
Fucking ouch.

She means it well, though, honestly. It's kind of her way of saying, "I love you too much to marry you," which she would never say in so many words.
BUT DOES EAMES KNOW THAT? I HAVE MY DOUBTS. SO 'OUCH' IS V.V. APPROPRIATE.

af;sdf; SO YEAH, I LOVE YOUR MAL KIND OF A LOT. I am so easy for characters who can't say what they mean.

You can certainly interpret it that way, yes. Stars are an interesting point, since they look relatively fixed to us---so, in some ways, it was a reflection on fate as well. /pretentious lit-nerd mode
I'm so happy you enjoyed it. Thanks very much. :)

Eames is kind of a sap, too, I think. Here, at least. Canon!Eames is certainly not a sap, but I like to imagine that some of that is due to a lot of disappointment in his younger days that led to him being much more guarded. *shrug*
You are totally reading it right. Don't even worry. I'm glad you enjoyed it! :D
